Christian Parents & Public Schools

As school is starting up again, I am seeing many parents posting pictures of their children on their first day of school for whatever grade they are in. Although some of these parents have their children being homeschooled and even fewer going to a private Christian school, the majority are going to a public school. These parents, including many Christian parents, are also showing excitement for their children going to public school.

While I would love to be excited for them, I cannot be so. My heart is breaking for any child that has to go to a public school, and this has absolutely nothing to do with the recent mass shootings in public schools. The mass shootings are the least of my concerns. It is extremely rare for a mass shooting to occur in a school and even less chance when considering how many thousands of schools there are around the nation.

To begin with explaining my concerns for going to public school I would ask if there is any parent that would willingly send their child into a war zone that has literal bombs and guns being shot day and night. I don’t think that there is a parent that would send any child into that war zone. Most parents would not even want their adult children to go into that war zone as part of the military. The main reason most would not send them into that war zone is that it is dangerous, and the chance of death is extremely high.

Now the question arises, what does a war zone have to do with Christian children and public schools? Everything!

Public schools are a war zone that is more dangerous than any bomb or gun being shot at a person. Bombs and guns only injure or kill the body of a person. The public schools destroy the soul of most children by what they teach.

To begin with, nearly every public school across the nation does not teach creation as a fact and often teach evolution as a fact. As a believer one cannot teach that creation is only a theory. Either the Bible is true or it is false. Either the world and everything was created by God or it is a lie and it was not.

Why would a Christian parent send a child into a war zone teaching this way?

Next, nearly every school teaches that gender can be whatever a person chooses or feels. This is a direct lie from the pits of hell.

God made man and woman, male and female and nothing else. As the Bible describes all the animals, they are described as male and female also. Mankind has chosen to ignore God’s creation and say that a person can be either and have changes made to their body to be either. Regardless of what a person feels or does with surgery, he/she is still the same gender as when he/she was born and cannot change that. All that is changing is the outward appearance.

Why would a Christian parent send a child into a war zone that teaches this?

Next is that nearly every public school teaches or allows for sex to be whatever a person determines it to be. This means it can be male/male, male/female, female/female or some other variation. The Bible teaches that a man is to leave his parents and cling to his wife (woman), not anyone else. This is taught in both the Old and New Testaments. Along with this is that the Bible teaches that anyone living in sexual immorality will not get into heaven. Yet, the world is pushing for marriage and sex outside of Biblical marriage and sex and is promoting it as good in the public schools.

Why would a Christian parent send a child into a war zone that teaches this?

Another point is that public schools teach that Jesus was just a good person, if they teach about Him at all. Most schools do not allow any teaching about Jesus at all with very few exceptions. The Christian parent must believe that Jesus is Lord and Savior or he is not a believer nor a Christian. Either the Bible is true about what it says about Jesus, or it is false.

Again, why would a Christian parent send a child into a war zone that teaches this?

This just gives a few major reasons what public schools teach that is against God. With all of this, many Christian parents send their children into the public schools to be a ‘witness’ of God to the other children.

With this action I would ask if a child that is six years old been trained enough to be a witness for Jesus when faced with the giant enemy?

Nowhere in the Bible is a child sent to do a man’s job. When the Bible says to go out into all the world, Jesus was talking to the disciples–grown men, not children. The Bible does talk about training up a child in the way to go, but it never says to send them out until they are grown.

Most Christian children under high school age have most likely not been trained enough to know how to combat the lies that are sometimes openly and sometimes subtly taught in the public schools.

Satan goes around masquerading as an angel of light seeking to deceive and devour everyone. One of his greatest assets is the public school system. There are individual teachers out there that are trying to teach truth, but as a whole the public school system will not allow it and does not teach truth.

I ask, if you are a Christian parent to prayerfully consider pulling them out of the public school system. The best choice is to homeschool them. Be willing to give up some of the luxuries of life to have one parent home to be able to school them in God’s ways and truth. There is a nearly an infinite number of sources available to help teach your child nearly anything and everything.

If you cannot homeschool, then strive to get them into a good private Christian school that will teach the truth.

I ask why would you, as a Christian believing parent, be happy to send your child into a war zone that is working hard to claim their soul for Satan? This loss will be for eternity, not just a physical, temporary death.

Judges 2:10 Not Knowing God

After that whole generation had been gathered to their ancestors, another generation grew up who knew neither the Lord nor what he had done for Israel. Judges 2:10

Parents often have certain beliefs or ways of doing things. In their own hearts they know and understand why they believe or do those things. Very often their children are not told why there is that belief or action. It is just done inside the home with no training of the next generation.

As that occurs, the children forget about the belief or action, ignoring it because there is no known purpose.

After the generation of Israelites that came out of Egypt passed away, the next generation grew up not knowing God or what He had done for Israel.

Many children grow up in a ‘Christian’ home but are never told who God really is or what He has done. All they see is a ritual of going to church on Sundays and doing nothing more. Parents are more focused on the here and now, rather than the eternal.

As a result, children grow up not really knowing God. They walk away from the church and choose to follow the ways of the world. This can often occur while they still claim to be believers.

Every generation of believers has the responsibility to teach the next generation about who God is and what He has done in their lives. Jesus told the disciples to go out and make disciples. This starts in the home and works out from there to around the world.

The more disciples are made, the greater the chance of the next generation knowing, believing in and following God is. One must not allow any generation to not know about God or what He has done.

If you have not done so yet, know who God is and what He has done in your life. Have a personal relationship with Jesus on a daily basis. Make God a part of your daily life that all the world can see.

Next, regardless of your age or if you have children or not, there is at least one generation that is younger than you. Take the responsibility to train that generation on who God is. Talk about who God is and what He has done in your life.

Do not allow another generation to rise up that does not know Jesus as their Savior.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will tell others of what God has done for you; that you will disciples others in following Jesus; that God will raise up the next generation to follow Him; and that none will fall away from following Jesus.

Hebrews 5:14 Are You Ready For Solid Food?

But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil. Hebrews 5:14

Newborn babies start out life drinking milk for food to nourish their bodies. As they grow older, they learn to eat more solid food, little by little, until fully mature.

In the same way, people are to grow in many different areas of their lives. However, many like to stay immature or very simple in certain areas of their life. They do not want to grow up and go through the challenges of training themselves to be more mature.

The author of Hebrews had just rebuked the readers for still needing milk or simple teachings about God. He tells them that solid food or teachings is for the mature that have trained themselves to distinguish good and evil.

Just as many in the world like to remain immature, there are many in the church that live the same way. They believe in Jesus and are saved, but that is all there is to their life and walk with God. Holding onto salvation and God’s love is all they desire, rather than growing in the Lord and becoming mature.

When they read the bible, they only read the major highlight adventure stories, ignoring the rest of scripture. They get offended when someone talks about holiness and righteousness.

People who are living in this way are often unable to realize what is sinful or evil, because they have chosen to not grow and learn more about what it means to be righteous and holy before God and man.

True believers will be like a child and work to grow and mature in the Lord. He will devour all of God’s word and train himself to know good from evil, to be holy before God and man as Jesus is.

No matter how long or short of time you have been a believer, there is always room for growth in His word. There is always more to learn about knowing what is good and what is evil and how to live for God in every area of your life.

In order to keep growing you need to get into the solid food of God’s word, not just simple stories. Do not stunt your growth in the Lord, but eat a healthy diet of all His word, and work at training yourself to live as Jesus lived.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know all of God’s word for your life; that you will train yourself to live like Jesus; that you will be ready for the solid food in God’s word; and that you will know the differences between good and evil.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 The Usefulness Of All Scripture

All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17

All over the world one can find manuals on how to do just about anything and everything. There are also videos online on how to do everything.

In every good manual there will be pointers on what to do and what not to do. There will be sections that warn of the dangers and sections that show the benefits of doing something the right or wrong way.

Right after warning Timothy of guaranteed coming persecution, he tells him that the scriptures is inspired by God and is good for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness to equip the believer for good works.

Every person who has chosen to follow Christ has to learn what that means and how to do it. He needs to learn how to do the good works God is calling him to do.

There is not a book in the world that will do it completely correctly, because the world’s view is from a temporary and selfish viewpoint, not God-centered and eternal.

The bible will teach the new believer what God expects and how to live his life. It will also rebuke the believer, when he chooses to disobey God, sin and follow the ways of the world. The bible will correct a believer when he steps off the path God has him on in any area of his life. It will also train the believer in the best ways to please God and accomplish His mission for his life.

God has chosen to make the bible in this way, so that the believer will be completely equipped to do the work God has called him to do.

If you have any questions about how to live your life, you can find the answers in the bible. There is nothing that you will face or have to do that the bible does not say something about. God has a mission for you to carry out while you live on this earth.

Do not try to accomplish it on your own, but allow the Holy Spirit to use God’s word to guide you correctly so that you will be completely equipped and ready for the job.

Are you using God’s word? Or does it sit on a shelf, ignored?

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know and seek God’s word for your life; that you will study the bible to know what God is saying to you; that you will allow the bible to equip and change your life; and that you will do the work God has called for you to do.
