Daniel 6:4 A Clean Record

At this, the administrators and the satraps tried to find grounds for charges against Daniel in his conduct of government affairs, but they were unable to do so. They could find no corruption in him, because he was trustworthy and neither corrupt nor negligent. Daniel 6:4

King Darius had chosen some men to help lead his country. Daniel was among those men. Daniel had done so well that the king chose to make Daniel a ruler over the entire nation. The other men were angry and jealous at the position that Daniel was given and sought to find a way to discredit him. As they watched him, they found out that they could find nothing corrupt in Daniel, everything he did was right.

In the political world, one of the greatest things many of the politicians do and those who vote for a politician, is seek out what is wrong with the opponent. People want to discredit a person to be able to claim he is not qualified to hold the position.

This even occurs outside of the political realm. Watch the news and it is common to see someone being accused of some wrong doing. Many times, the wrong done occurred years ago and is only being brought to the surface now. Often one person brings up some bad from the past, and many others suddenly come forward with similar stories.

Believers in Jesus should be living their lives in such a way that no one can find fault with them. Their private life and their public life should line up exactly the same and both should line up according to God’s standards. All thoughts, actions, and words should be the same as what God would speak. This keeps all accusations from standing true.

Satan is out to get you, if you are a follower of Jesus. He wants to be able to dig up some dirt in your life, to claim you really don’t follow Jesus. The world will seek to discredit you, to make you look like them and that your belief is false.

Focus your entire life on God and His ways of living, so that no one can bring up an accusation that will be true. The world will see how you are living and it will be a witness of the changing power of God.

What record will people find on you, if they search?

I pray today that you will allow God to cleanse you from all sin; that you will live your whole life for God; and that no one will be able to find any fault against you.

Isaiah 1:4 Forsaking The Lord

Woe to the sinful nation, a people whose guilt is great, a brood of evildoers, children given to corruption! They have forsaken the LORD; they have spurned the Holy One of Israel and turned their backs on him. Isaiah 1:4

It is easy to stand on the side and see the sins of others, and then blame them for the conditions of a nation. All over the nation there are many Christians who are pointing fingers at the sins of others. They often state that the nation has become a sinful nation because of others.

Although it is true that the nation has become very sinful in many different ways, one cannot just blame others for this occurrence. In reality it is a group effort to cause a whole nation to become sinful and turn away from God. It is a process of individual people slowly turning away from God.

Many believers will say that they have not turned away from God. The question is: how many times has a person turned down being the witness God called him to be?

A nation is made up of people, individual people. It is individuals who cause a nation as a whole to follow God or reject Him. It is individuals who choose to allow sin to occur. It is individuals who refuse to be a witness of who Jesus is.

When a believer chooses to not be a witness for Jesus, he is causing someone else or the nation to continue to live in sin and reject God. Every believer must give every non-believer a chance to know God and choose or reject Him. Often many will keep quiet and make the choice for the other person.

In this way, many believers have turned their backs on God. This is where Isaiah says woe to that nation and its people.

You have to take a look at your own life. How are you doing at being His witness from day-to-day?

Are you willing to tell others about Jesus every time you get the chance?

Or are you keeping silent and not wanting to offend anyone?

One causes sin to continue, while the other is doing God’s will on this earth.

Are you in partnership with this world in causing great sin?

I pray today that you will be God’s witness every chance you get; that you will keep yourself from all sin; that you will tell everyone about Jesus; and that you will not turn your back on God.

1 Corinthians 15:33 Bad Company

“Do not be misled: Bad company corrupts good character.” 1 Corinthians 15:33

Paul had been talking about living, dying and raising from the dead. If there is no resurrection, then there is no purpose in life. At that point one is to just have as much fun as he can while living, since there is no life after death. However, as a believer, one knows that is not the truth.

Now he gives a warning to not be misled. This phrase has been repeated by people over all of history, even to this day: “bad company corrupts good character”.

People are constantly misled by ignoring this warning. Parents have allowed their children to be around another family whose children are of bad character. They think that their children will influence the bad character of the other and change them. Most often it is the other way around, the good character becomes bad.

Good character will not change to bad instantly. It will happen over a longer period of time. Even as an adult, a person will change. Often a man who never curses will go into the Army. While in the Army he is around a massive amount of accepted cursing. Over several years of this, suddenly his language becomes laced with cursing, sometimes to more excess than others.

You will become what you are around. The world is looking at eat, drink, and be merry. God is looking at building you up like Jesus and drawing more to Jesus to save them. Who will you be around?

If you are making your company most often with other believers, you will be encouraged to continue to follow Jesus and do ministry.

This is not to say that you never be around non-believers. You must be around them some to be a witness to them. The difference is who do you hang around with to relax? Who do you spend the most time with? What is the purpose of you being around the people you are with?

Seek God to have the correct balance. Do not allow yourself to be caught up in the ways of this world. Do not forget that you have a future in heaven with life forever.

I pray today that God will reveal who your good friends are and who are only of this world; that God will strengthen you to be His witness; that you will not be influenced by this world; and that you will influence others for Jesus.
