Luke 15:10 Rejoice Over Repentance

In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents. Luke 15:10

Holding a grudge against what a person has done in his past is a common trait among most people. People remember what a person had done or been like and often refuse to allow that person to change. Or they do not believe that he could have changed.

With this type of attitude, many people are often held down, or pushed back into their old habits.

Jesus gave a parable of a woman who lost a coin, then after much searching found it. She then rejoiced greatly. He said that angels will also greatly rejoice over a person who repents.

People in a church are sometimes the most critical of a person who repents. They know a person’s past and don’t believe that he could have truly repented. It is often seen as a just a publicity stunt, rather than true repentance.

As a human being, no one can truly know the heart or reason behind a public confession or repentance. Every believer must trust that it is real and rejoice with God and His angels.

Those in the church must come alongside a new believer, who has repented, and support him and build him up in Christ Jesus. This is discipleship that Jesus called every believer to do.

This is the opposite of what many in the church often do with criticizing the repentance. Satan and the world want to destroy the new believer, and both will try to get the believers to do that in getting them to not rejoice.

Every time a person repents, the church should be rejoicing and praising God for the new, changed life. Changed lives is the goal Jesus came to the earth for.

You may know someone who has repented and is trying to change and live for God. Instead of being critical against that person, come alongside of him and build him up. Rejoice that God is still working in lives today.

Allow God to reveal to you those who are repenting and beginning to live for Him. Let the joy of knowing this rise up in your soul, rather than let the doubts of the devil fill your heart and mind.

Are you rejoicing with the angels over one who has repented?

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that God will use you to disciple new believers; that you will praise God for those who repent; and that you will point all people towards Jesus.

Luke 3:4 A Voice Calling

As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet: “A Voice of one calling in the wilderness, Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.” Luke 3:4

Preparations are always made for important people’s arrival. They want everyone to be aware that someone of high importance is coming. There is also the desire that everyone give the proper honor to the one arriving.

For each important person, what needs to be done in preparation is different for each one. Some require much more, while others will require less. It is dependent upon the level of importance for each.

Talking of John the Baptist, Luke quotes from Isaiah about one calling out in the wilderness the need to make a way for the Lord’s arrival. This quote comes from Isaiah 40:3-5.

Even though John the Baptist was talking about the first arrival of Jesus, the call can, and needs to be, still be made. Jesus can still be making the first appearance into the lives of people all over the world.

The majority of the world has still yet to have heard about Jesus. Out of those who have heard, most have not accepted or made a way for Him. Most of the world is still rejecting Jesus.

There is also those in the church who have accepted Christ, but have not really made straight paths for Him. They have chosen to accept Christ, but not really live their lives for Him, staying in a sinful lifestyle.

Every person needs to make a straight path for Jesus. They must open their hearts and lives up to His reign and control. The challenge is not everyone knows this.

Every believer must be willing to be the voice calling in the wilderness of the world. They must be willing to point people to Jesus and encourage people to make a straight path for Him in their lives.

Starting with your own life, you must make a path for God in your life. Allow God to reign as absolute authority over all you say, think or do.

Once you have begun to do that, then you must be a voice calling in the wilderness. Give others a chance to know Jesus by being His witness in this dark world. Do not keep the information to yourself, but call it out for others to hear and respond.

Are you a voice calling in the wilderness?

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will give Jesus complete authority in your life; that you will be a witness of Jesus to others; and that you will be a voice calling in the wilderness of this world.

Mark 7:37 Miraculous Hearing And Speaking

People were overwhelmed with amazement. “He has done everything well,” they said. “He even makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.” Mark 7:37

Hearing and speaking is something that every person wants to be able to do on their own. It is very common that when a person begins to have problems with hearing or speaking, people will quickly try to get help to cure the problem.

No one wants to be deprived of being able to hear or speak. It creates many difficulties in every area of life.

A man who could neither hear or speak was brought to Jesus for a healing touch. When Jesus healed the man, the people were amazed that He could make the deaf hear and the mute speak.

Even today people are amazed when a physical miracle occurs allowing a person to physically begin hearing or speaking. While this passage is directly about physical hearing or speaking, there is another dimension of hearing and speaking that God works in people.

This is other miraculous change that occurs is in the hearing and speaking in the spiritual realm. When Jesus touches the life of a person, one will have his spiritual ears and mouth opened. He will begin to see and speak about the things of God that the natural man cannot hear or speak about.

Those who see someone who can begin to speak and hear in the spiritual realm will often be amazed. They will not understand how a person can hear and speak about the things of God in a clear way. His words will be new and different than those of his past or of the world.

All these changes come about because he is made into a new creation in Christ Jesus. He now has open communication with God, the things of God and things in the spiritual realm.

As a believer God has given you His Holy Spirit to open your ears and mouth. God makes it possible for you to hear what He is saying or what the demonic spiritual realm is saying. He also makes it possible for you to boldly speak His life giving words and truth in this dying corrupt world.

When you allow God to work in and through you in miraculous ways, people will stand amazed. They will see the hand of God doing miracles in your life.

Have you allowed God to open your ears and mouth?

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that God will open your ears to hear His word; that God will open your mouth to boldly speak His word; and that you will be filled with His Holy Spirit to do miracles in and through you.

Ezekiel 47:8 Flowing Water

Running river

He said to me, “This water flows toward the eastern region and goes down into the Arabah, where it enters the Dead Sea. When it empties into the sea, the salty water there becomes fresh.” Ezekiel 47:8

Water is one of the major necessities of life on this earth. People need it for themselves and it is needed for plants and animals to survive and provide food for humans.

In places where water is not moving or being changed out, it becomes stale and no good. Nothing can live in it and it is not safe for drinking. Without any water things die and cannot survive.

God gives Ezekiel a vision of a river flowing with fresh water. It flows down into the Dead Sea, causing the sea to become fresh water.

Fresh water that is flowing brings about life to where it goes. Rivers always have trees and plants growing alongside of it. Fish are in abundance in flowing, fresh water. There is life in places of fresh water.

Often the Holy Spirit is seen as a liquid that is flowing out. God’s Holy Spirit goes out, flowing among people bringing life. God cleans out the garbage of sin in the hearts and lives of people, bringing about a new and clean life.

The believer who has the Holy Spirit in him will be a part of the flowing river of life that God has placed upon this earth. Wherever he goes, he will be bringing new life to those around him. There will be a growth of peace, joy, forgiveness, love and more on the banks around him, because of the Holy Spirit flowing in and through you.

Just as where the flowing water brings life on its banks, so will the Holy Spirit bring life to the banks of the believer.

Take a look at your life and the lives around you. What is flowing out of you to those around you? Just as it was with Jesus, so it should be with you. Life should be rising up around you. People should be able to see God and the abundant life that He brings to you and is available to them.

This can be seen in the joy, love, mercy, grace and forgiveness that God has shown you and you pour out to others. Allow God’s Holy Spirit to flow through you to others bringing new life, eternal life.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know God’s Holy Spirit in your life; that God will flow His life through you; and that those around you will be touched by God’s Holy Spirit coming from you.
