Luke 15:10 Rejoice Over Repentance

In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents. Luke 15:10

Holding a grudge against what a person has done in his past is a common trait among most people. People remember what a person had done or been like and often refuse to allow that person to change. Or they do not believe that he could have changed.

With this type of attitude, many people are often held down, or pushed back into their old habits.

Jesus gave a parable of a woman who lost a coin, then after much searching found it. She then rejoiced greatly. He said that angels will also greatly rejoice over a person who repents.

People in a church are sometimes the most critical of a person who repents. They know a person’s past and don’t believe that he could have truly repented. It is often seen as a just a publicity stunt, rather than true repentance.

As a human being, no one can truly know the heart or reason behind a public confession or repentance. Every believer must trust that it is real and rejoice with God and His angels.

Those in the church must come alongside a new believer, who has repented, and support him and build him up in Christ Jesus. This is discipleship that Jesus called every believer to do.

This is the opposite of what many in the church often do with criticizing the repentance. Satan and the world want to destroy the new believer, and both will try to get the believers to do that in getting them to not rejoice.

Every time a person repents, the church should be rejoicing and praising God for the new, changed life. Changed lives is the goal Jesus came to the earth for.

You may know someone who has repented and is trying to change and live for God. Instead of being critical against that person, come alongside of him and build him up. Rejoice that God is still working in lives today.

Allow God to reveal to you those who are repenting and beginning to live for Him. Let the joy of knowing this rise up in your soul, rather than let the doubts of the devil fill your heart and mind.

Are you rejoicing with the angels over one who has repented?

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that God will use you to disciple new believers; that you will praise God for those who repent; and that you will point all people towards Jesus.
