From Horror To Hope (book review)

David and Beth Grant and Jonathan and Jennifer Barratt are leaders of the Project Rescue program. Their ministry is focused upon rescuing women and children from the world of sex trafficking. This is a world-wide problem that is growing larger all the time. This book takes an honest look at what the sex trade is and how prevalent it is in the world.

They begin this book with some stories of a young girl (9 years old) being sold into the sex slavery by her parents and remained there for many years. Another story is told of a 16-year-old girl that is promised freedom and a good paying job to get her out of a war-torn country. Instead of what was promised she was forced into sex slavery.

This book reveals some of the horror of sex slavery and how women and children are often forced into it and unable to escape. The Project Rescue organization works at going into red light districts in cities around the world to touch the lives of women and children there and offer them hope and a way out.

They describe the difficulties and dangers involved with rescuing these people. Along with the horror stories, they describe how they have rescued many women and children and given them a new life, some who now work with the organization to rescue more women and children. There are also stories of some who were rescued fell back into the sex slavery.

It is a simple book to read but will bring you to tears and anger into joy hearing some of these stories. At the end, they talk about how you can help out or get involved with the ministry in various ways.

I highly recommend reading this book and allowing God to touch your heart. You may or may not want to help in this ministry, but it is something you can at least pray about that God would protect the workers and lives would be touched and changed.
