2 Corinthians 10:3 A Different War

“For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does.” 2 Corinthians 10:3

All over the world a person can see various types of wars that are being fought by nations. These are physical battles with real guns and artillery. People are physically killing and being killed. When speaking of wars, these are what most people think of.

In every nation there are other wars going on that are not usually seen as “wars”. These are battles of individuals against other individuals. There are spouses that are fighting for each other’s own way. Children and parents fighting. Bosses and workers fighting. Fellow workers fighting each other. Neighbors fighting each other. Each of these are small wars going on.

No person can escape being in or around a war. As a believer living in the world, one will be a part of a war. The difference is how the believer and the non-believer fights.

The world fights with harsh words and physically. The world looks at the individual as being completely responsible for the battles.

The believer fights in the spiritual realm. He looks at the individual as being controlled by the spiritual realm. The spirit of the devil is present in the battles. The believer is to fight the spiritual forces that are leading others into wrong living.

It is the spirit of deception that causes people to lie. It is the spirit of greed that causes theft. It is other demonic spirits that lead people to live lives not according to God’s way.

As a believer you must be willing to fight these spirits in this world. These spirits want to keep people from seeing Jesus. God’s Word is powerful and alive. Using God’s Word demolishes the power of the enemy. It will break down the strongholds in people’s lives. God’s Love will diminish the anger of the enemy and stop the battle.

Are you fighting in the war God is in with the demonic spiritual forces of this world? Are you fighting as the world fights? Or as God fights?

I pray today that you will see the war God is waging against sin in your life and around you; that you will fight using God’s words and ways; that you will be filled with the Holy Spirit and empowered for battle; and that you will stand in the victory of Jesus.

Hebrews 1:13 The Winner

“To which  of the angels did God ever say, ‘Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet’? Hebrews 1:13

The author is talking about the superiority of Jesus over the angels. Never had God told an angel that He would make the enemies his footstool some day. Yet that is what God said to Jesus. Jesus came to the earth as a baby with the sole purpose of going to the cross to die. It was because of enemies and sin that Jesus had to go to the cross. Once He died on the cross and paid for the sins of the world He was raised from the dead. God said at that time that because of what Jesus had done there would come a day when all His enemies would become His footstool. In other words, Jesus would win in the end.

What does that mean to you today? Every day you may have trials and troubles. There will be people who will hate you and mistreat you. There will be people who use and abuse you. Jesus said you are to turn the other cheek. God said that vengeance will be His, not yours. When you believe in Jesus for your salvation you also become an heir with Him in all that He has and will get. In Jesus you will win the war with sin. In the end you will inherit all of heaven and earth with Jesus. All your enemies will be put down underneath your feet with Jesus at your side.

When will this happen? No one knows the exact day or hour. It will be when Jesus returns to take everyone to be with Him for all eternity in heaven. This tells you that you have a hope of winning the battle some day. It reveals to you that God will have His day of vengeance for all the wrong done to you. All you need to do is stand strong and follow Him in this battle.

I pray that today God will strengthen you in your walk with Him; that you will know the power He has over the enemy; that you will know the hope you have in Jesus in winning the battle; that God will strengthen you to not fall to the enemies tactics.
