And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:15
Pits are often made to burn trash in. It gives one the ability to burn up burnable items and get rid of the trash so that there is nothing left over. Anything that is not able to be burnt up goes into landfills and just fills the ground. This stuff never really goes away and just takes up space. Burning breaks things down and removes it forever leaving the land for others to use safely.
John records the final judgements occurring. Satan, death and hell, along with anyone who is not in God’s Book of Life are thrown into the lake of fire for eternity.
The world tries to present the belief that people are basically good and that everything will turn out good in the end. People are allowed to do what they want without any true consequences.
It is easy to see the fault in this belief as one looks around the world and sees all the trouble constantly being caused by people. There is no hope to be seen when looking at life through the lens of the world.
God has set a standard in which all people are to live by. That standard requires that one must believe in Jesus as Lord and Savior and have their names written down in His Book of Life.
Although at the moment it may appear that people can get by with sinning against God and rejecting Jesus, there is coming a judgement against them. When Jesus returns all the trash of this world–sin–will be cast into a lake of fire to be burnt up for all eternity. Anyone who chooses to not believe in Jesus will be cast in that lake also.
On a regular basis you toss trash out of your house to be removed. God also has a day in which He will cast out all the trash of this world. The trash He will cast out is sin and anyone who has rejected Jesus and not have their name in the Lamb’s Book of Life. Make the choice today to repent of all sin and believe in Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Allow your name to be written down in the Book of Life so that you will not be cast into the lake of fire.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will allow God to remove sin out of your life; that your name will be in His Book of Life; and that God will not have to cast you in to the lake of fire in the final judgement.
