Revelation 20:15 Is Your Name In The Reservation Book?

Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:15

In many of the fancier, sit-down restaurants, it is common to have the requirement to have a reservation in order to eat there. The purpose of the reservation is to ensure you will have a spot to eat. For restaurants this is because they have to limit how many people are eating there.

If a person shows up with no reservation, he may or may not be allowed in at all. Some places require reservation, while others they are highly recommended.

In John’s vision, he has seen a lot of judgement and destruction occurring. Along with death and hell, any person whose name was not written in the book of life were thrown into the lake of fire.

Fire is sign of final judgement or punishment. It is over, completed, eternal destruction and death. When a fire gets hot enough, there is nothing that can survive it, everything is burned up and destroyed forever.

While alive on this earth, every person has a choice to make. It is the most important choice in their life that effects them for all eternity. That choice is to choose whether to follow Jesus, repenting of all sins and to accept His forgiveness or not. No other choice ever made has the extreme weight of importance as this choice.

All other choices a person may make from day to day, may have good or bad consequences for a short amount of time. That amount of time could be for a few moments all the way up until the time of death.

At the point a person chooses to repent of sins and believe in Jesus, his name is written in the book of life. He is on the reservation list for eternal life in heaven. If has not made that choice, then he is condemned for eternity in a lake of fire.

You, yourself, alone must make a choice as to whether you will repent of your sins and follow Jesus or not. If you refuse to follow Jesus, the consequences will be that your name is not written in the book of life, bringing on the judgement of eternal death.

Although choosing to follow Jesus may cause some problems today, in the end it means your name is in the book of life. As a result you will have eternal life some day. Is your name in the book of life?

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will repent of your sins; that you will follow Jesus; that your name will be in the book of life; that God is reserving eternal life for you; and that you live your life for God.

Daniel 12:1-2 What Will You Arise To?

“At that time Michael, the great prince who protects your people, will arise. There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then. But at that time your people–everyone whose name is found written in the book–will be delivered. Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt.” Daniel 12:1-2

Daniel is given one last final vision of the end of everything. There is a period of extreme distress and turmoil, such as never been seen before. Once that is done it is the time when Jesus returns and everyone is raised up for the final judgment. Those whose names are in the Book are raised to eternal life, while the rest are condemned to eternal contempt.

Most human being lives as though he is finite, that this world is all that they can or will ever know. They live for today and today only, rarely thinking about tomorrow or extremely far into the future. Those that do think about tomorrow are usually thinking about investments, retirement or vacations, not eternal life.

It is easy to understand why most people don’t think about eternity much, all people die, appearing to be at the end. The human body is finite, but the spirit never completely dies once made.

When Jesus returns, someday in the future, every person that has died will be raised from the dead and then will be judged. Those who have their name in the Lamb’s Book of Life, the book Jesus carries, those who have repented of their sins and follow Jesus, will be raised to eternal life. It will be an enjoyable life for eternity.

Those who do not have their names in that book will also be raised for judgment. They will also have life for eternity, but it will be one of condemnation and contempt. God will be set against them and cast them into the lake of fire for eternity for punishment. The punishment is for refusing to accept God’s offer for life, and to refuse follow and serve God with their whole lives.

What does your future hold? Is it one of eternal life with God?

Or is it one with eternal contempt, away from God?

You can choose to follow Jesus today and have eternal life in your future.

I pray today that you will serve Jesus with all of your life; that you will turn from all sin to follow God and His ways; that your name will be written in the Lamb’s Book of Life; and that you will be a witness to others to lead them to Jesus.

Revelation 20:14-15 Second And Final Death

Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.” Revelation 20:14-15

The final judgment is described by John. It is one where God finishes off all sin and death and hell. Everything that is not of God is thrown into the lake of fire. They are destroyed for the rest of eternity.

Many people fear death because they do not know what is on the other side of death. They do not know what death really is. When there is no understanding of what death is, or what is on the other side of death, it is understandable to fear death.

Death came into this world as a result of sin entering the world. Sin entered the world when Adam and Eve chose to disobey God. The result of that sin was death. Death both physically and spiritually. With sin in your life God cannot be around you. It must be removed first.

Every person born since Adam and Eve have chosen to sin. They have brought death into their own lives.

The only way to stop that death is to accept what Jesus has done for you. He died on the cross and paid the price of death for your sins. Once you accept that and follow Him, He removes all of your sins. Then He will place your name in the book of life. He has given you life, not death.

In the end when all sin and death is destroyed, God will look at His book of life. Any person whose name is not found in that book will also be destroyed in the lake of fire for all eternity.

Do you believe in what Jesus has done for you?

Are you following Jesus today?

Are you turning away from sin and accepting the forgiveness Jesus has given you?

Is your name in the book of life today?

I pray today that you will know what Jesus has done for you; that you will accept the price He paid for your life; that you will turn away from all sin; and that your name will be written in the book of life.

Revelation 21:27 The New Jerusalem

“Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.” Revelation 21:27

John just described the new Jerusalem that came down out of heaven. This city is huge, about 1,400 long, wide and high. The walls are about 200 feet thick and made of jasper. The city streets are made of pure gold. The foundation is of precious stones. The gates are made of single pearls.

The city is beyond anything a person today could really imagine. Nothing on this earth has even come close to what this city is like. God is at the center of this city and brings the light to this city. There is no more night. No longer is there any sin or darkness.

I am not a person who really likes big cities. I prefer the countryside. But when I read of this city, it is one I would love to visit, and even live in. It is a perfect city with nothing bad in it. Most people would want to go to a city like this.

As much as people would love to see a city like this, there is a requirement to be allowed into this city. Even today, here on this earth, there are cities that have a requirement in order to get into enter them. In order to enter Mecca, you must be a Muslim. This type of requirement is nothing new.

In order to enter this new Jerusalem, your name must be written in the Lamb’s book of life. Jesus is that Lamb. His book is the book that lists the names of everyone who has accepted the salvation He provides; those who have repented of their sins and have been forgiven.

No one or anything sinful can enter into this city. Only those who are righteous in Jesus can enter.

Are you trusting in the salvation of Jesus? Have you repented of and turned away from your sins? Are you truly following God with all that is in you?

Along with yourself making it into this new Jerusalem are you letting others know about it? Are you being the witness Jesus has called you to be? Are you telling others of the coming destruction? Do not go there alone, bring others along.

I pray that today God give you a vision of the new Jerusalem; that God will give you a vision of the lost still in this world; that you will serve God with all of your heart; that you will turn from all sin; and that you will work at building God’s kingdom.
