Revelation 14:1 How Are You Identified?

Then I looked, and there before me was the Lamb, standing on Mount Zion, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads. Revelation 14:1

Having a way to identify people is very important for many businesses. They will have their own uniform and some form of identification tag.

Each business will have a slightly different way to identify their workers. This helps the employer and the customer know who are the workers. Without a mark of identification, there would only be chaos and confusion among everyone.

In a vision, John sees Jesus and 144,000 people standing on Mount Zion. These people had the name of Jesus and God marked on their foreheads.

The world likes to identify itself by what one has or what one does. Temporary physical things are what identify those who have not chosen to follow Jesus.

Believers are to be marked as belonging to God and are different from the world. They have a mark upon them that is completely different and separate from the world’s way of marking a person. The mark of a believer is one of supernatural peace, one of being different, one of striving to be holy, one of being guided by an eternal perspective, one of knowing that this world is not his final home, and more.

Every person who is marked as belonging to God, will be set apart from the world. His manner of talking and acting will be different, because he is guided by God’s Holy Spirit with God’s word as the rule book on how live. He will not look like or act like the world, but strives to be more and more like Jesus every day.

Being different will give reason for the world to ask why there is something different. It will give the chance to be a witness of who Jesus is.

Allow God to mark you with His mark. Live your life as God would have you live it, separate and different from the world, full of peace and life. You are set apart as holy and dedicated to God in this dark and fallen world.

As you live by God’s standards of love and holiness, you will be identified as different in this temporary world. God knows who are His and sees His mark upon their foreheads and hearts.

How are you identified today?

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will have God’s mark upon your life; that you will live your life by God’s holy standards; that the world will see that you belong to God; and that you will be a witness for Jesus in this world.
