1 Thessalonians 4:7 How To Really Live Life

For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. 1 Thessalonians 4:7

All around the world there are many different views on how one should live his life. Each culture has a slightly different norm as to what is expected of a person in living life. Some are extremely focused on education, while others are on careers, and yet others are on family.

The one common theme throughout the world is that one lives to please self without being too separated from everyone else. If it pleases self, then it must be acceptable.

After talking about living like Jesus, Paul tells the people that God did not call them to live an impure, but a holy life.

Living a holy life is something that is different, it is being separated from the world unto God. Very few people like to be separated or different from others. Everyone wants to fit in with those around them.

In reality, the world does not have any set standards of how to live life other than to please one’s own self in whatever way that means or is needed. With that type of mindset, there is no true moral standard.

Sin does not exist according to the world, thus any action is acceptable, causing the world to live an impure, sinful lifestyle in anyway possible. Nothing is off limits.

The believer is to live to a different standard, by God’s holy standard, a pure and sinless life that pleases God. Living in this way is living on a different path than the world. It is choosing to not sin or follow the ways of this world. It is going against the flow of the world around him.

Jesus lived the expected standard, setting the example of how to live life and He gave the Holy Spirit to strengthen and guide a believer to live that same way of holy living.

As a believer, you are called to be separate from the world and its ways of living. Jesus has forgiven you of past sins, so do not go back to those sins or ways of living.

Come out from among the world and live a life that is separate and holy unto God. Choose daily, even moment by moment, to reject a sinful lifestyle and be holy as God is holy.

He has given you everything you need to live the holy life, now live it.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know the standard God has called you to live; that you will allow the Holy Spirit to guide you in living a holy life; and that God will strengthen you to turn from all sinful ways of living.

2 Corinthians 6:15 Really Nothing In Common

What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? 2 Corinthians 6:15

Unity is something that most people like to have with those they are around. Usually people flock towards those that are like them, so that there will be little to no conflict or disagreements.

Currently in the world, many are striving to make everyone the same. They want everyone to have equal share of physical, mental, and emotional things. Some will try to say that every person is the same, regardless of belief or actions.

Paul brings up the question of what do believers have to do with any idol or unbeliever.

Idols have absolutely no place in the life of any believer, in any way, shape or position. Along with idols not having a place, unbelievers do not really have a place either. The only place an unbeliever has is for the believer to be a witness to him.

Instead of making a difference in the lives of unbelievers, many believers have embraced the unbeliever without calling for a change or commitment to Christ. Many in the church have embraced the thoughts and attitudes of the world allowing sin to enter in.

Believers are to love all people, but are to hate the sin and point people to Jesus. As Jesus walked on the earth among the sinners, He called people out of sin and told them to leave their life of sin. He did not engage in sin with them.

There is no unity between a believer and sin, between God and a sinful lifestyle. There needs to be a marked difference between those in the church–believers, and those outside the church–unbelievers. If there is no difference, then the believer is not really a believer, but a counterfeit.

Take a moment and examine your life and see what is most important to you. Ask yourself who your friends are and who or what do those friends point you to.

If those you are around the most are not pointing you towards God, are you pointing them towards God? Do not be the one who is influenced by the world to live as the world does in sin and rebellion, but be the one who influences the world for God to live as Jesus did in holiness and righteousness.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that your life will be one of service towards God; that you will live separated unto God; that God will give you strength to not bow down to the idols of this world; and that you will influence the world for God.

Matthew 25:32 Are You A Sheep Or A Goat?

All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. Matthew 25:32

In every workplace there are two types of people. There are some who do what they are told and expected to do and there are some who do not do what they are told or expected to do.

The boss who is aware of what is going on will often reprimand or fire the one who does not do his job. The others will be honored and raised up.

Jesus says that in the end everyone will be divided as sheep and goats. The sheep are those who did His will and the goats are those who did not do His will.

Just as it is in the workplace, are people in the church. In every church there are many people who claim to follow Jesus and believe in God. Some are telling the truth, while others are not.

Many go to church to look good or to escape hell, but very few actually go to church to be built up and to build others up. Those few will go out and reach the lost in many different ways. They will not just sit in a church pew and expect people to come to them.

Sheep will obey their master and do what he says and go where he leads. Goats, on the other hand, will do their own thing, not obeying or following anyone.

God is looking for and expecting people who claim to believe in Jesus to do what God has said to do. Even though someone claims to believe in Jesus, if he does not do what God says, then he will be cast into hell in the end.

If you claim to be a believer and follow Jesus, you are already on the right track. However, your actions must follow your words.

Do not allow yourself to claim Jesus, but do as the world does.

Seek God’s Holy Spirit to guide you in ways you can reach out and touch the lives of other people for God. This can be in witnessing and telling them about Jesus and in practical ways of meeting their needs when you can.

There is coming a day when God will separate the people. Will you be seen as a sheep or a goat?

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know what God desires of you; that your actions will match your words; that you will do what God wants you to do; and that God will see you as one of His sheep.

Revelation 18:4 Get Out While You Can

Then I heard another voice from heaven say: “Come out of her, my people, so that you will not share in her sins, so that you will not receive any of her plagues;” Revelation 18:4

In places where there is a major disaster about to occur, such as a hurricane or a major fire, people are encouraged to leave. The encouragement to leave is for their protection and safety in the long run. It is an attempt to keep them from possible death or major injury.

Many people will heed the warnings, while others will try to ride out the disaster.

In John’s vision he sees that Babylon is about to be judged and destroyed. There is a voice that calls for the people to come out. This is so that they will not share in the sins or destruction of Babylon.

The majority of the world is living in a sinful way, with no regard to the future. They are living to be pleased in the moment, not realizing the danger that is ahead of them.

God has called His people out of the life of sin. He has forgiven them and has a plan for them in heaven. Yet, until Jesus returns, every believer is still living in this fallen world. Although believers live in this world, they do not have to partake in its sin.

Everyone who does not follow Jesus will eventually be judged and condemned for eternity. It will be the greatest disaster that mankind will have ever experienced when God judges the world for its sin.

No person has to be under God’s judgement, if He will only choose to repent of his sins and follow Jesus. Every day God is calling His people out of the world of sin into His righteousness and holiness.

No matter what you have done in your past or are currently doing today, God is calling you to step out of those sins. His does not desire to have you caught up in His final judgement against all mankind for un-repented sins.

Choose today to turn away from sin. Repent and follow Jesus with all of your life. Be in this world, but not of this world. God is ready and willing to forgive you of all sins and give you eternal life.

When Jesus returns, it will be for final judgement or for eternal life. Are you getting out while you can?

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will repent of all sins; that you will flee the life of sin; that you will follow God with all of your heart; and that you will not have to share in the final judgement that God will bring upon this world.
