Then the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!” And he added, “These are the true words of God.” Revelation 19:9
Weddings are often a time of great celebrations. Usually family members and friends are invited to be a part of the celebration. It is a time to rejoice in two people getting married.
Although for most weddings a lot of people are invited, not everyone is invited. There are usually restrictions or limitations as to who can be invited. Sometimes it is an extreme privilege to be invited.
John is told by an angel that any one who has been invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb is blessed.
Most marriages are the getting together of two people who are in love with each other. It is a time to celebrate that the two are becoming one.
Throughout scripture the relationship of God with His people, all believers, is one of a marriage. It is an intimate relationship with God through Jesus that every believer has.
The full marriage has not occurred yet. It will happen upon the day Jesus returns to take His bride, the church or believers, home to be with Him for eternity.
Although every one is invited to believe in Jesus, not every one does. In the end, relatively few will actually accept the invitation. Those who do choose to believe in and follow Jesus, will be allowed to be at the marriage supper in heaven.
At this wedding supper a person will begin to see the true blessing of following Jesus. All suffering, pain, hunger, thirst, weariness, hate and sin will be done away with for eternity. Every believer will see God face to face and will be made perfect.
But all of this is only for the believer who has been invited and accepted the invitation to believe in Jesus.
You have been invited to believe in Jesus and follow Him. You have choice each day as to whether you will follow Him or not. Although there may be some temporary pain in following Him today, in the end there will be eternal joy in heaven. You will be blessed beyond measure for all eternity as you choose to follow Jesus.
Ask yourself if you have been invited to the wedding supper of Jesus and the church. Then ask yourself if you have accepted it.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know the joy of following Jesus; that God will give you a vision of the marriage in heaven; that you will accept the invitation to the wedding supper of the Lamb; and that you will follow God with all of your heart.
They will wage war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will triumph over them because he is Lord of lords and King of kings–and with him will be his called, chosen and faithful followers. Revelation 17:14
Battles and wars occur on a regular basis all over the world. Every time there is a battle there are two sides to the battle. In the end, one side will win the battle.
A choice has to be made for every person involved as to which side of the battle one will choose to be on. On the battlefront there is no neutral ground, one has to be on one side or the other.
John gives a prophecy of a group of kings who wage a war against Jesus. In the end He wins, because He is King over all kings. By His side will also be all those who are called, chosen and faithful followers of Him.
Along with the many physical battles that are occurring all over the world, there is a separate spiritual battle occurring in the lives of every person. This is a battle for the soul of a person against God.
Satan and this fallen world are set to try and destroy everything about Jesus. At times it appears as though the world is winning the battle. Promotion and acceptance of sin is rampant and acceptable by most people. It appears as though God is losing the battle.
In the end, however, God will win the battle. Jesus is King of kings and Lord of lords. Every knee will bow to Jesus in the end.
Every believer who is a faithful follower of Jesus, will be on the winning side in the end. Alongside Jesus, they will win the battle for their souls and live for eternity in heaven with God.
Every day there is a battle for your soul. Satan is out to destroy you as he fights against Jesus. God has called you to be His child. He has chosen you to be His child. Remain faithful to Him, following Jesus in all of His ways.
As you are faithfully trusting and following God, He will hold you up and protect you against the attacks of the enemy. Though the battle may be difficult and long, in the end you will be on the winning side as God triumphs of sin.
Do not give up or give in, but remain faithful to God.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will follow Jesus with all of your life; that you will see God fighting for you; that you will stand with God against all sin; and that you will see the victory of God against sin and the enemies of God.
Then I looked, and there before me was the Lamb, standing on Mount Zion, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads. Revelation 14:1
Having a way to identify people is very important for many businesses. They will have their own uniform and some form of identification tag.
Each business will have a slightly different way to identify their workers. This helps the employer and the customer know who are the workers. Without a mark of identification, there would only be chaos and confusion among everyone.
In a vision, John sees Jesus and 144,000 people standing on Mount Zion. These people had the name of Jesus and God marked on their foreheads.
The world likes to identify itself by what one has or what one does. Temporary physical things are what identify those who have not chosen to follow Jesus.
Believers are to be marked as belonging to God and are different from the world. They have a mark upon them that is completely different and separate from the world’s way of marking a person. The mark of a believer is one of supernatural peace, one of being different, one of striving to be holy, one of being guided by an eternal perspective, one of knowing that this world is not his final home, and more.
Every person who is marked as belonging to God, will be set apart from the world. His manner of talking and acting will be different, because he is guided by God’s Holy Spirit with God’s word as the rule book on how live. He will not look like or act like the world, but strives to be more and more like Jesus every day.
Being different will give reason for the world to ask why there is something different. It will give the chance to be a witness of who Jesus is.
Allow God to mark you with His mark. Live your life as God would have you live it, separate and different from the world, full of peace and life. You are set apart as holy and dedicated to God in this dark and fallen world.
As you live by God’s standards of love and holiness, you will be identified as different in this temporary world. God knows who are His and sees His mark upon their foreheads and hearts.
How are you identified today?
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will have God’s mark upon your life; that you will live your life by God’s holy standards; that the world will see that you belong to God; and that you will be a witness for Jesus in this world.
