Revelation 14:1 How Are You Identified?

Then I looked, and there before me was the Lamb, standing on Mount Zion, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads. Revelation 14:1

Having a way to identify people is very important for many businesses. They will have their own uniform and some form of identification tag.

Each business will have a slightly different way to identify their workers. This helps the employer and the customer know who are the workers. Without a mark of identification, there would only be chaos and confusion among everyone.

In a vision, John sees Jesus and 144,000 people standing on Mount Zion. These people had the name of Jesus and God marked on their foreheads.

The world likes to identify itself by what one has or what one does. Temporary physical things are what identify those who have not chosen to follow Jesus.

Believers are to be marked as belonging to God and are different from the world. They have a mark upon them that is completely different and separate from the world’s way of marking a person. The mark of a believer is one of supernatural peace, one of being different, one of striving to be holy, one of being guided by an eternal perspective, one of knowing that this world is not his final home, and more.

Every person who is marked as belonging to God, will be set apart from the world. His manner of talking and acting will be different, because he is guided by God’s Holy Spirit with God’s word as the rule book on how live. He will not look like or act like the world, but strives to be more and more like Jesus every day.

Being different will give reason for the world to ask why there is something different. It will give the chance to be a witness of who Jesus is.

Allow God to mark you with His mark. Live your life as God would have you live it, separate and different from the world, full of peace and life. You are set apart as holy and dedicated to God in this dark and fallen world.

As you live by God’s standards of love and holiness, you will be identified as different in this temporary world. God knows who are His and sees His mark upon their foreheads and hearts.

How are you identified today?

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will have God’s mark upon your life; that you will live your life by God’s holy standards; that the world will see that you belong to God; and that you will be a witness for Jesus in this world.

Ezekiel 9:4 Marked For Life

Cross on forehead

and said to him, “Go throughout the city of Jerusalem and put a mark on the foreheads of those who grieve and lament over all the detestable things that are done in it.” Ezekiel 9:4

Having a mark causes a person to stand out as different. There is always a reason for the mark.

People can be marked for many different reasons and in many different ways. Some places will place a mark on the hand to show they can enter a place. Other places put a wristband on for the same reason.

There has also been times when a marking was for a negative reason, such as during the holocaust and times of slavery.

God had given Ezekiel a vision of a man having to go through Jerusalem putting  marks upon certain people. These people were those who were weeping over the sin being done in the city. These people would survive a massacre as God destroyed the rest of the people.

God is still in the process of marking His people. These are the people who weep over their sins and the sins committed around them. They have chosen to turn away from sin and follow Jesus, becoming believers.

Every believer is to be clothed with the righteousness of Jesus showing that they have been cleansed of sin and are no longer returning to sin. God had also sent His Holy Spirit to lead and guide each believer.

Having God’s Holy Spirit inside of oneself causes that person to live and think differently than the rest of the world. The Holy Spirit is also the one that separates the believer from the rest of the world. He is the guarantee of salvation, not marking that person for death.

Without the mark of God’s Spirit in the life of a person, he is marked for death…eternal death.

If you are a believer in Jesus, you have been marked to have life. This mark is a sign that you have turned your back upon sin and the sinful ways of this world.

When  you have done this, your heart should be weeping at the sin you see around you and that you have done in your past. Work to be a witness to more people to turn them from the sentence of death to one of life. Encourage others to receive the mark of Jesus and His Holy Spirit on their lives to allow them to be marked for LIFE.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will have the mark of the Holy Spirit in your life; that people will know that you are marked for God; and that your heart will weep as God does over sin being done.
