“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” Galatians 1:20
Prior to Paul’s following Jesus, he fought against Jesus. He was zealous for God and would do whatever it took to destroy anyone who believed in Jesus. Paul worked very hard at following the Law of God and being a righteous person.
Once he got a vision of Jesus his life was changed. He realized what Jesus had done for him. Now he does everything for Jesus instead of against Him. In his words he is crucified, he is dead to his old self and it is Jesus living in him.
When a person dies, he no longer has any control over his body. Other people can move his body any way that they desire. If someone does not move the body, that body will not move. In reality the body has lost all value because the person’s spirit is no longer in that body.
Jesus died on the cross for every person. After death, however, unlike any other person, He rose from the dead with life and the ability to give life. His death was to take away sins of all people so that they may live.
Prior to following Jesus, you lived for yourself and lived to sin. As a believer you have accepted His death on the cross. With accepting that death, you also must die. You must die to sin and your self.
You must no longer be alive to yourself. Allow Jesus to live in you. This is done by faith. You can not earn your way to heaven or do anything right in and of yourself. Consider yourself dead to yourself and all sin.
As you trust Jesus to live in you and do the right thing in you, you will begin to truly live for God. Allow Jesus to have full rule in your life. Jesus will give you life and life more abundantly, if you let Him live in and through you.
Today die to yourself so Jesus may live in you.
I pray today that you will allow yourself to die to all sin and self; that you will live by faith in Jesus; that you will know the abundant life Jesus is offering; and that you will allow Jesus complete rule of your entire life.
