Galatians 1:6-7 A Different Gospel

“I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel–which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ.” Galatians 1:6-7

There were people getting into the churches and were spreading some false teachings. Some people of the Galatian church had started to follow these false teachings. This was occurring less than 10-20 years after Jesus left the earth. Paul calls this a deserting of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

People in churches today usually will not suddenly choose to worship an idol or even completely switch to another religion. They know that doing something like that is wrong.

The world even knows that doing something like that is wrong. Yet, the devil will try in a different way to get to Christians. Making little changes in the gospel of Christ will get more people. The world will try to get you to deviate on your path with Jesus little by little.

People are thrown into confusion because they don’t know what to believe. One church says something, while another church says the opposite. One says alternate lifestyles are acceptable, while another says it is not. One states that you must do many different things to be a believer, the other says just believe. One allows watching anything, while the other does not.

Deviation from the gospel comes in slow increments. The world is very sly in making those changes. Do not allow yourself to be led wrong.

Whenever you hear anything about the gospel from anyone, you must check it out with the Bible. Is that really what the Bible says? Verify what your pastor says and teaches. Even check out what I am saying or teaching in these devotions. Do not accept anything except what is found in the Bible. Correctly interpret the Bible and it’s message.

I pray today that God will guide you by His Holy Spirit in all truth; that you will recognize any deception and flee it; that you will live in the grace of Christ; and that you will not pervert the gospel message in any way.
