“I tell you, whoever publicly acknowledges me before others, the Son of Man will also acknowledge before the angels of God.” Luke 12:8
Jesus started talking about who a person should be most concerned about. Each person should be concerned about what God thinks more than what another man thinks. Who you are concerned about will show up in who you publicly acknowledge.
In society, many times you will see a public official recognize someone publicly. They will make a statement about something the person had done bringing him honor and recognition. This will lift that person up, often giving him a boost in his life or business.
Other times you may have seen a public official deny knowing even their own relationship or some other person. That other person can bring a bad report with being acknowledged.
As a believer you are to recognize Jesus in the public eye. You must be willing to admit knowing Him.
Many believers are being a silent witness. They do not talk about Jesus to anyone at anytime except in church. In the public eye, you would not know they are believers of Jesus. According to Jesus, these people will be unrecognized by Him.
Acknowledging Jesus publicly can take many different forms. You can tell others about Jesus; tell others why you stand for or against various things because of your belief in Jesus; tell others that you help them because Jesus helped you; tell others you love and forgive them because Jesus loved and forgave you; and many other ways.
Look for ways to bring up Jesus in all of your conversations. Allow God to be so much a part of your life that you cannot help but acknowledge Him everywhere you go in everything you do.
Do not be ashamed of Jesus. If you are ashamed of Him now, He will be ashamed of you later in heaven. Do not disown Jesus in your public life. Do not keep Jesus just in your private life. Make a public announcement about Jesus.
I pray today that God will give you the boldness to be His witness; that you will not be ashamed of Jesus; that you will tell others about Jesus; that you will not try to hide your following Jesus; and that God will build His kingdom through you.
