Revelation 8:13 Trouble to Come

“As I watched, I heard an eagle that was flying in midair call out in a loud voice: Woe! Woe! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth, because of the trumpet blasts about to be sounded by the other three angels!” Revelation 8:13

Many people in the world are believing that things will get better on the earth. Often it is stated that if the government will just enact a few new rules it will make the country a better place to live in. If they just hire a few more policemen, the crime will go down. If they just enforce harsher punishment on crimes, the crime rate will drop. If a bad ruler is removed, things will get better.

Taking the Bible and God out of the picture, all these thoughts make sense to a point. If you were to take a serious look at the history of mankind, though, you will see that this is still not true. Things have never really become better for very long.

Some things will change for a short time. An example is some of the goodness that America has brought about as a growing country. Yet at the same time many things have become much worse. Yes, slavery was done away with, and women were given some rights, but, are now killing babies through abortion is easy and legal; deviant sexual lifestyles are acceptable; and many more bad things.

Right before this verse is a description started of some angels pouring out some of God’s wrath upon mankind. Fire is sent across the world destroying trees and grass. The sea is turned into blood killing many creatures in the sea. The lakes and rivers are turned into bitter water. The sun and moon are darkened.

These things were just from the first four angels. Now is stated that there is yet three more to come. It is prophesied of woe for all the inhabitants of the earth.

These are not signs of things getting better for man. Man does not get better in himself. Only through Jesus does things change. Only in Jesus does a person become a new creation. Without God you will only get worse.

In the end God will have His day of vengeance. Do not be deceived into thinking that things will get better on this earth. It will get worse until the day Jesus returns to take all believers to heaven with Him. Keep your eyes focused on Him, not this world. This world will be destroyed in the end. Jesus will not be destroyed.

I pray that today you will not be led wrong by this world; that you will keep your eyes on Jesus; that you will be a witness to the world of Jesus and what is to come; and that you will not fear the evil of the world but trust in God and in Him alone.
