Revelation 9:4 Seal of God

“They were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any plant or tree, but only those people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads.” Revelation 9:4

Here you see the fifth angel, out of seven, blow his trumpet. This trumpet brings up locusts from the pits of the Abyss or hell.

These locusts were not just normal locusts that eat all the plants. They had the power of the sting of a scorpion. Living in Texas, scorpions are a very common pest. Although I have never been stung by one, I have had many other friends who have been. They state it is very painful sting.

These locusts had that stinging power. Unlike normal locusts that come and destroy plants and trees, these were not allowed to do that. Their whole focus was to torture people.

The people they were to torture was any person who did not have the seal of God on his forehead. The torture was reserved for anyone who did not follow Jesus.

Although this verse is looking at something to occur in the future, you can learn from it for today. One thing you should have on your life is the seal of God.

If you believe in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, and that He died and rose again from the dead, and that He has forgiven you of your sins, you are now God’s possession. At that point He places His Holy Spirit upon you as a seal of guarantee that you are His.

As you live from day-to-day, you need to allow that seal to be seen by all around you. This lets the enemy know you are His. It also proves your devotion to God.

Just as with Job in the Old Testament, the enemy has to have permission in order to touch you. If you give the enemy permission by willingly stepping into sin, then the enemy will attack you. If you are following God with all your heart, the enemy must seek permission, otherwise he cannot touch you at all.

As the time of Jesus return gets closer, the times of trouble will increase. In the end God will pour out His wrath against His enemies on this earth. You do not want to be on the receiving side of that wrath. Follow Jesus with all of your heart, soul, mind and strength. Allow the seal of God’s Holy Spirit to be upon you and keep you in His will and ways.

I pray today that God will mark you with His Holy Spirit; that you will follow Jesus with everything in you; that you will not fear the enemy around you; and that God will protect you from all harm.
