2 Peter 3:11 How To Really Live Life

Destroyed world

Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives 2 Peter 3:11

All over the world there is violence and destruction occurring. Much of that destruction is at the hands of people towards other people. The violence level is always increasing, making this world a dangerous place to live. Violence is a common sight for many people.

Along with the violence, there is the destruction of this world occurring. People are always talking about extinction of animals and plants, earthquakes, fires, and other destructive forces in this world. Blame is placed up people that the earth is falling apart.

There is great fear that the world will freeze, or overheat because of pollution. Good water is scarce in parts of the world and blame is put on people.

These things are happening because people are told that they can live however they want to live. There are no set standards on how to live life. A person can choose how he wants to live by his own personal beliefs and standards. This causes chaos and destruction in the end.

While the world has a reason to have some fear, because God has said that this world will be destroyed in the end, believers do not need to fear. They are told how to live their lives so that they will have no fear. Believers are to live a holy and godly life.

A holy life is one that is filled with love, mercy and grace. It will not seek to harm anyone or anything in any way. It is focused on loving God and loving people. He will speak truth in love, act in love and bring honor to God. He will not fear the coming destruction of this world, because he knows that his home will be in heaven some day when this world will be destroyed.

As a believer, are you fearing the destruction of this world? Focus your eyes and life on God. Live as Jesus lived and do not fear it. You have a home waiting for you in heaven for all eternity.

Live your life the way God has intended you to live it, holy and godly. Bring honor to God. In this way you will bring some peace on this earth and love will be shown. The reward will be eternal life in the end.

I pray today that you will know the life God has called you to live; that your life will be like that of Jesus; that you will turn from all sin and turn to Jesus; that you will not fear the coming destruction; and that God will guide you in living for Him.

Luke 22:50-51 No More Violence

sword-strike.jpg

And one of them struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his right ear. But Jesus answered, “No more of this!” And he touched the man’s ear and healed him. Luke 22:50-51

Jesus and the disciples had been in the garden praying. Judas had left and got the high priest to arrest Jesus. As the high priest and some soldiers came to arrest Jesus, one of the disciples draws his sword and cuts off the ear of a servant. Jesus stops him heals the servant’s ear.

When a person is getting arrested, it is very common to see him fight back and resist the arrest. People do not want to get arrested. In the process of resisting the arrest, often it can get very violent. Often innocent bystanders are the ones who get hurt the most.

People will fight arrest even more when they are innocent of doing anything wrong.

They will even fight for someone else who is innocent and getting arrested. Jesus had been completely innocent and one of the disciples decided to fight for Him. However, that was not the way Jesus wanted things to go. He was willing to be arrested.

In fact, He needed to be arrested. Getting arrested was a part of God’s plan to have Jesus crucified, which was a part of God’s plan to bring salvation to the world.

There are times when believers today are falsely dealt with. In many countries they are arrested, while in some countries, they are not arrested but are dealt with in a bad manner.

Each time something occurs, a believer must choose what to do. He must be in tune with what God is doing and what God wants him to do. Jesus knew that He had to be arrested, so there was no reason to fight back. He did not show violence, but love and care.

When someone falsely accuses you or treats you wrong because of your belief in Jesus, what will you do?

If you are like the world, you will fight back with violence and a vengeance.

Acting like Jesus, you will go forward and love the enemy and do good to them. You will not show violence to defend yourself. Be willing to accept what God has placed in your path, instead of fighting back. Fight with love and care, not violence, it does no good.

I pray today that you will know God’s love for all enemies; that you will know God’s plan for your life; that you will accept all God puts in your path; and that you will be a witness for Jesus in every situation.

Jeremiah 51:46 Do Not Fear Rumors

Do not lose heart or be afraid when rumors are heard in the land; one rumor comes this year, another the next, rumors of violence in the land and of ruler against ruler. Jeremiah 51:46

While the Israelites were in Babylon under captivity, God told them that there was coming a day when He would destroy Babylon and they would be set free. During that time He gave warning that there would be many different rumors. Rumors that would strike fear in the hearts of many people, however, they were not to be afraid at all.

Thousands of years later, rumors are something that still runs rampant in this world. With the speed of information at lightning fast, rumors spread even easier. News sources are not always to be fully trusted as to telling what is really happening. Many times the news is slanted to push an agenda. Facebook is filled with stories of pictures and articles of things happening, many of which may not be true.

One area that rumors run heavy on is of war and destruction. Fear of attacks from terrorists are constantly in the news. Fear of foreigners runs high, because of terrorism.

As you hear all these rumors, you must keep in mind that God is in control. God knows exactly what is happening at the moment. It may be God is using an enemy to strike a nation, in order to get their eyes back on Him.

As a believer, everything that occurs is for a purpose. It is the purpose to get your eyes back on God, or to build you up stronger in the Lord. When rumors of war, destruction, death, economic collapse, or anything else occurs, turn to God and seek Him. Seek God’s protection in and through it all.

Some of those rumors may never occur, while others will happen. Either way, God is not surprised or worried. If He is not surprised or worried, then neither should you be.

Do not think, that because of all these rumors, God is not in control or does not care. He does. There will come a day when either you will be called home to heaven, or Jesus will return and take you home to heaven. Rumors will never change that fact.

I pray today that God will calm your heart in fearful times; that you will know that God is in control; that you will not fear any rumors or news that you hear; and that your complete trust will be in God.

Revelation 18:21-22 Sudden Destruction

“Then a mighty angel picked up a boulder the size of a large millstone and threw it into the sea, and said: With such violence the great city of Babylon will be thrown down, never to be found again. The music of harpist and musicians, pipers and trumpeters, will never be heard in you again. No worker of any trade will ever be found in you again. The sound of a millstone will never be heard in you again.” Revelation 18:21-22

The city of Babylon will be destroyed at some point. That destruction will be complete. Nothing will be left in it.

Babylon was one of the largest and greatest cities in its time in ancient history. No one really knows what city this Babylon is that John is prophesying about, but it is a large, well-known city. This city had everything going for it. It was the center for entertainment, production and trade.

Think of a large city in the world today that is the center of all those things: New York, Hong Kong, Bombay, or one of many others. They hold the same type of description.

Yet, Babylon was also a city of sin. It killed off believers and prophets of God and promoted sin.

The current great cities of the world are still doing the same things. They may not all be killing believers, but they are trying to destroy them by quieting them and restraining them.

It is easy to look at a major city or country and believe that they have everything going for them, but if they are not serving God, they will be destroyed in the end.

Do not allow yourself to trust in these cities/nations. When everything is said and done, all the cities of this world will be destroyed. All the power, glory, fame, and fortune will become worthless. The only ones that will be standing in the end will be God and all those who have followed and trusted Jesus with all of their heart.

Are you trusting Jesus with everything in you? Are you following God with all of your heart? Who or what do you put your trust in today?

I pray that today God will draw you closer to Him; that you will trust God more; that you will follow Jesus with all that is in you; that you will put away trust in this world and its things; and that God will fill you with His Holy Spirit to guide and strengthen you on this journey.
