Psalm 49:16-17 Wealth Is Temporary

Governors mansion

Do not be overawed when others grow rich, when the splendor of their houses increases; for they will take nothing with them when they die, their splendor will not descend with them. Psalm 49:16-17

People are often amazed and in awe when they drive by a huge mansion of a home. They often see those large homes and dream of a day that they may own one of them, or get discouraged because they know with their meager income they will never own one.

There have be television shows that walk a person through various mansions of some of the rich and famous. It is the only way most people will ever get to see the inside of a home that large. Extensive homes with their own theater, eight car garage, basketball court, tennis courts and much more are dreamed of by many people.

The sons of Korah tells the people not to overawed, or overwhelmed when they see the rich and their home increasing. The reason one should not be overwhelmed with riches, is that one cannot take it with them when they die.

One thing that remains the same for every person, regardless of how wealthy, famous or poor and unknown they are, is that nothing that they own will follow them when they die.

Wealth can be accumulated upon this earth to great extents, but it is only temporary. It lasts only while living on this earth, and then, maybe, not even till death. Many who have had great wealth have lost it within moments due to a crash in the economy or some other disaster.

The only thing that follows a person into eternity is his soul, not even his body follows him. Physical things will break down and fade away with time. Things owned will be sold off or given to another person. It does not long term eternal good for a person.

Hold the things you have loosely. Do not be jealous of what someone else has, nor stand in amazement at what they have physically.

Look at what a person has spiritually. The one thing that counts for all eternity is a relationship with Jesus. Having the forgiveness of sins and salvation that Jesus provides is all that really counts.

In your own life, seek to build your relationship with God and to build His kingdom on this earth. Bring as many into His kingdom as you can. That is what lasts for eternity and is worth having. The rest is only temporary.

I pray today that you will have a relationship with God; that you will know the salvation Jesus gives; that you will know what lasts for eternity; and that you will have contentment in what Jesus gives.

Psalm 43:5 Discouraged? Disturbed?

Depression

Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God. Psalm 43:5

Discouragement is something is seen nearly everywhere. People are discouraged about their job, the family, their spouse, their dreams, and many other things. Life is not going the way that they had planned it to go and they do not understand why.

Many are also disturb at the way things are going. They see the news about killings, wars, financial crises, diseases, disasters and much more negative news and fear what is going to happen in life. They do not see any hope for anything good.

In order to cope with the discouragement and anxiety that people are feeling, many will turn to drugs, both legal and illegal. They drown themselves in things or activities to hide their pain and fears.

The author of this psalm asks the question of why his soul was downcast or discouraged and disturbed. He knew that he should be putting all of his hope and trust in God, while giving Him praise.

The discouragement and anxiety does not rest just with unbelievers, but many believers are feeling the same way also. They see what is going on and fear it. They have chosen to see the things of this world only and not see what God is doing.

Despite the garbage, sickness, sin and death in this world, every believer has a hope that is still alive. They have a reason to give God praise. God is on their side and has forgiven them and given them life. While there are troubles in this life, there is a hope of a future that is perfect with no pain, sorrow or suffering for all eternity.

Each one also has the joy of knowing God is right there with them to strengthen and guide them through this dark world. These are reasons to give God praise.

Choose to worship and praise God in spite of the negative things you see. Complaining and being depressed and discouraged will not change a thing, but praising God will give you strength. It can shed light into a dark area of life.

Put all of your hope in God and not in the people and things of this world. This world will pass away, but God will always be there.

Now go out rejoicing and praising God today!

I pray today that you will know the salvation Jesus offers; that you will know the hope Jesus provides; that God will remove all fear and anxiety in your life; that God will remove discouragement; ad that you will praise God in every situation.

Genesis 41:16 Give God The Credit

Path on a hill

“I cannot do it,” Joseph replied to Pharaoh, “but God will give Pharaoh the answer he desires.” Genesis 41:16

People all over the world are constantly looking for answers. Just like children, most adults like to ask the question, “why?”. They want answers as to why things happen as they do.

In the majority of cases, people seek those answers from other people or books that people have read. In that process many will choose the ways of the world to get their answer and will also be given the answer that the world gives.

Those that give the answer, will usually take full credit for that answer. The want to be seen as the person with the wisdom and knowledge. People want to feel as though they are really important and are somebody.

Many believers have fallen into this trap of taking the credit for what they say or do. They feel as though they are the ones who had full power and ability to say or do what was said or done. It was their own wisdom and knowledge.

While Joseph had been in prison, God had given him knowledge of the meaning of some other prisoner’s dreams. Later, when one of those prisoners was released, Pharaoh had a dream also that he wanted interpreted. Joseph was called before Pharaoh.

Pharaoh’s first statement was that he heard that Joseph could interpret dreams. Immediately Joseph stated that he cannot interpret the dreams, but that God can give the answer needed. With the guidance of God, Joseph then interprets the dream.

Joseph could easily have taken credit for interpreting dreams, but he did not. He gave God the full credit.

As a human, it is easy to think that one has the ability to do something, when in reality it is God working in and through that person.

There is absolutely nothing that you cannot do, unless God gives you the ability to do it. This even includes breathing. If you cannot breath without God’s help, how much less can you interpret dreams or do some other ministry or work for Him?

When God uses you to touch someone’s life, such as in prayer, witnessing, helping hand, interpretation, a word,  or anything else, give Him the credit for the ability, wisdom and knowledge.

Don’t take the credit that belongs to God. He is the one who did it.

I pray today that you will know God’s power and abilities; that you will give God credit for all works done; that you will point all people to God and not to self; and that God will use you to touch many people.

Joel 2:28 Dreams, Prophecies And Visions

And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. Joes 2:28

As the destruction of Israel was coming, there was also good news. The good news was what would occur after the destruction of the nation. God would draw all His people back and show His mercy upon them. At that time, God will pour out His Spirit upon everyone who follows Him.

For the most part, in the Old Testament times, the only people who received God’s Spirit to have prophecies, dreams or visions, were prophets and priests. If a person wanted to find out what God had in store for him, he would have to go to a prophet. It is the prophet who would inquire of God for him. God would reveal His ways and things to come through the prophets by giving them prophecies to speak, visions and dreams.

When Jesus was getting ready to leave the earth, He told the disciples to wait for the Spirit to be poured out upon them. This was to fulfil the promise Joel had vision of happening. Not only the old men have these visions and dreams, but so could young men and women, it would be for every person who follows God.

Even to this day, God still pours out His Holy Spirit upon believers. He gives His people visions of what He is doing or going to do. He gives His people dreams to follow in order to build His kingdom larger. He gives prophecies to His people to direct His people on the path that they should be walking.

God is always at work in this world. With your physical eyes, you may not always see it or realize what God is doing. With God’s Holy Spirit in you, you will be able to see with spiritual eyes what God is doing.

God is waiting right now to reveal to you His plans for your life. Those plans are revealed in dreams and visions.

Open up your spiritual eyes to see what God is saying and doing. Allow God to reveal these things to you.

Then, with His strength and power, run hard after those dreams and visions He has given you. See what God can do in and through you.

I pray today that you know God’s Holy Spirit in you; that God will give you prophecies, visions and dreams; that God will help you to understand what He is showing you; and that God will use you to build His kingdom greater.

Daniel 2:27-28 Give God The Credit

Daniel replied, “No wise man, enchanter, magician or diviner can explain to the king the mystery he has asked about, but there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries. He has shown King Nebuchadnezzar what will happen in days to come. Your dream and the visions that pass through your mind as you were lying in bed are these: Daniel 2:27-28

The king had a dream that disturbed him greatly and he wanted to know what it meant. He also refused to tell any what the dream was. When his people could not tell him what the dream meant, he set out to kill of his workers. Daniel stepped in and said that there is a God who can reveal what King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream was about. He then proceeds to tell the king about his dream.

There are a lot of dream “experts” in the world today who claim that they can tell a person what their dreams mean. Alongside of them, are also astrologists, palm-readers, fortune tellers, who claim that they can reveal what a person’s future will hold. In some colleges there are even courses that people can take to be trained for doing these types of works. All these people claim that they can help a person know what is future is.

People all over the world want to know what there is in their future and so they go to these types of people for guidance.

In the church there are also some people who claim to be able to know the future or can see the future of individuals.

The reality is that without God, no person really knows the future. Only God can reveal the future and do the impossible.

As a believer, God may do some great things through you for others. These things could be healings, other miracles, and telling of some future event. When God does this, it is easy to take credit and say that you did it, however, it is God who did it.

When God does some work through you, pull yourself out of the picture and give Him the credit. He is the one who did the work through you, not yourself. In yourself, you really have no power or abilities, only God does.

Are you taking credit for God’s work?

Or, like Daniel, are you giving God all the credit?

I pray today that God will do many things through you; that you will know that God is the one doing all the work through you; that you will be a witness of God’s great power; and that the world will see God through you.

What’s Your Dream?

Kayla Ann has written a guest post for my blog. Many people have dreams, and she writes about a couple that had a dream that God placed on their hearts and how it had blossomed over the years. I trust you will enjoy this post as well as I have and that you will also check out her blog afterwards. Thank you for reading.

What’s your dream?

On October 22, 2017, Sandals Church celebrated their 20th anniversary in the Inland Empire.
In 1997, Pastor Matthew Brown and his wife, Tammy Brown, began a new church named Sandals with a little girl on the way. They had decided to leave their church down by the beach in order to start a new church in the Inland Empire because they believed that was were God called them to go.
They had little support from the surrounding churches and Tammy worked full-time as a teacher in order to support her husband who was fully invested in planning and preaching sermons. Their first church meeting took place in the living room of their home with only a handful of friends present.
However, both Matt and Tammy felt that this was what God was telling them to do and so they held on to their faith and over time, their congregation grew. Pastor Greg Laurie was one of the first pastors to congratulate Matt and Tammy once their congregation reached 100 people.
Over the years, Sandals church as gone from meeting in the small living room of a home, to renting out spaces at other churches or colleges, to finally being able to purchase their own building a few years back which houses 4,000.  Today, Pastor Matt and Tammy celebrated 20 years of hard work and wonderful results with the church. Sandals has grown to encompass five different locations within the Inland Empire.
After service, members were encouraged to leave behind a note in response to the following question:

Legacy Note
On this anniversary, Pastor Matt Brown talked about “How to Make Your Dreams Come True”

“The key to any dream is not just seeing where you want to go, but being honest about where you are. The bigger the dream the bigger the team.” – Pastor Matt Brown

Make sure the dream comes from God
God’s dream for your life takes honesty with yourself
God Dreams take teams
Never Give up on God’s Dream for your life

“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” – Jeremiah 29:11 NLT

“Don’t copy the behavior and the customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” – Romans 12:2  NLT

Pastor Matt’s dream for Sandals church has been realized with God’s help and the church’s faith.

Genesis 41:16 God Warns Even The Lost

“I cannot do it,” Joseph replied to Pharaoh, “but God will give Pharaoh the answer he desires.” Genesis 41:16

Joseph had been thrown into prison for something he did not do. While there God was with him and gave him great favor with the guards. Later God gives him the interpretation of the dreams of two other prisoners that come to pass as said. Now Pharaoh has two dreams that no one can interpret. After some time of searching for someone to interpret them, someone tells him about Joseph and his ability to interpret dreams. Joseph tells Pharaoh that only God can give the answer to what those dreams mean.

Many people think that because someone does not believe in God, that God will not use or even help them at all. Pharaoh did not have room for God in his life. He was looked upon as a god himself. Yet, God gave Pharaoh two dreams. These dreams were to be a warning to Pharaoh and all of Egypt that a great time of harvesting would come, and then a great famine would come.

God cares for those who do not love Him. He is working to draw ever person to Him. Nowhere in the Bible does it say that the time of famine upon Egypt was a punishment upon them. It was just the way of nature and God was using it.

God used the dreams to give Joseph favor with Pharaoh. Through Joseph, God would get glory from Pharaoh. Pharaoh would realize that there was a God and that He spoke through Joseph.

People today, who do not know God, may have a dream or a situation in their life that you will have the answer from God for them. They may be questioning why something is happening or what to do next. God may use you to give them the answer they are looking for.

You must be open to God giving you the answers for those who are lost. Be willing to show them love and compassion for their situation. God loves them with a great love and wants to do good for them. He wants every lost person to know that He cares for them.

Are you willing to be used by God to touch the lost? To answer their questions?

Or will you let them remain lost and hurting?

I pray today that God will show you what the lost need to hear or see; that God will use you to reach the lost; that the lost will know you have a relationship with God; and that God will draw many to Jesus through you.
