But there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets, and He has made known to King Nebuchadnezzar what will be in the later days. Your dream, and the visions of your head upon your bed, were these: Daniel 2:28
Every person likes to receive credit for what they did. No one likes someone else credit for what they had done themselves. Often people try to take credit for what someone else has done. Many nations have laws set up to attempt to prevent that from happening. Punishment can occur if credit is falsely taken.
Daniel records that when Nebuchadnezzar had a dream, no one could interpret it without being given details of it. Daniel goes before the king and tells him that God has given the dream to himself so that the king may know what is coming.
The world is all about taking care of self, and often it is done at any cost to anyone else that gets in the way. In order to take care of self, one must do it on one’s own and then take all the credit. Many will also blame others when things do not go right, rather than taking the blame themselves.
Believers will often act in the same way as the world does. God will give them strength or knowledge or wisdom in some situation, but they take all the credit for what was accomplished.
Instead of taking all the credit, true believers recognize that without God nothing it possible. It is God who gives the person the ability to think, breath and move. They will give God credit for everything that they have and do that is right in His eyes. And they will do this with a humility that they know they don’t deserve what He has given and done in and through them.
Throughout your life God has given you many things. His blessing of provision in your life is beyond all value. Part of this blessing is what He has done in your life and through you.
Do not take the credit for what God has given you or done in or done through you. Let the world know that it is God who has given you the abilities to do what you do. This shows a humility that the world does not know or understand. It also shows the world who God is and what He can do.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know what God has given you; that you will give God all the credit due His name; and that you will be bold in making God’s name known to this fallen world.
