The Hour That Changes The World (book review)
Prayer is something that God has called all believers to do. It is time spent with God. Many people struggle to just pray for a few minutes, much less trying to do one hour or more.
Dick Eastman, the author, wrote this book on how to pray for one hour back in 1978 and this book has been reprinted several times since then. What he does is break the prayer time down to twelve 5-minute segments. Each segment looks at a different aspect of prayer, such as praise, confession, petition and thanksgiving. With each section of the prayer, Dick shows scriptural background for that portion of the prayer. This shows how with just a little organization of the prayer time, one can easily begin to pray for one hour.
Mr. Eastman does state that this is not a formula that must be done by rote memory, but one needs to be led by the Holy Spirit and allow freedom to pray more. It also does not need to be done in any specific order. He says that one may start with this type of praying and not be able to make a whole hour, but with time and practice it becomes much easier.
In the last chapter he talks about how to pray specifically for lost people. He gives examples of what to pray and why.
If you are interested in praying at all, I highly recommend reading this book. I originally read this book in the early 1980’s, and it helped me to learn to pray more. With several others, I chose to read this book again. It is an easy and short book to read.
