2 Peter 2:9 God Can Deliver From Temptations

then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgement, 2 Peter 2:9

Dealing with temptations is something that every person must deal with on a daily basis. All types of temptations will rise up to get a person to do something that the person knows really should not be done or to not do something that should be done. More often than not, giving in to temptation is much easier and more fun than fleeing it. In the fleeting moment of temptation, it can feel good.

As Peter is talking about false prophets, he tells the people that God knows how to deliver a person, who is godly, out of temptation and to bring about a day of judgement and punishment for those who are ungodly.

Since the world does not have a solid foundation of what is right and wrong, they have no concerns about temptations. The world is willing to do what pleases the most in the moment, whether right or wrong.

Coming out of that mindset is difficult for believers. Suddenly there is a standard in which one must live, God’s standard. Temptations will rise to get one to live outside of the standard God has set.

On one’s own it will be difficult to overcome temptation. Sin is enticing and looks good in the moment.

Upon being tempted, the believer must look to God to show the way out of it. God will show the path to take to flee temptation and to walk in His righteous and holy ways. All one has to do is be willing to take the path God has laid out for the believer.

Choosing to reject the path away from temptation will only bring about judgement when Jesus returns.

You will have to face temptation each and every day that you walk on this planet as a human being. Each time you face temptation you must decide how you will deal with it. God’s Holy Spirit is right there to deliver you from that temptation, to show you the way out of it. Do not allow yourself to be caught up in the temptation and sin against God, as the world does, but take the path God has set out for you in fleeing all temptation. Walk in His holiness and righteousness.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will seek God’s guidance in dealing with temptation in your life; that you will walk the path God has laid out for you; and that God will give you strength to flee all temptation.
