Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many go in by it. Matthew 7:13
Choices are available for people to have to make every day. It begins from the moment one gets up until that person calls it a night and goes back to sleep. Most choices are not ones that have lifelong consequences, but there are some that do. The majority of people make their choices based off of what choice the majority of other people have made. They like to follow the crowd.
Matthew records Jesus telling the people that they should enter by the narrow gate, because the other gate, a wide one, is broad and leads to destruction and many go through that one.
People usually want to do things the easiest and fastest way possible. Nothing can be too easy or fast enough. As a result, many will choose a path that everyone else has already beaten down and made easy. Very few will look far down the path and realize that the path ends up in a major failure and destruction.
The world tries to walk a path to God that does not follow God’s ways nor include Jesus. Many try to claim that there are many ways to heaven. It is a very broad path of sin leading to death in the end.
Instead of there being many ways to heaven, there is only one way. It is a very narrow gate that opens only through belief in Jesus and His work on the cross. Walking the path that Jesus provides is difficult, but worth it since it leads to eternal life.
One must choose to walk through the narrow gate of Jesus to find an abundant and eternal life.
Each day you get to make many different choices in your life. While many choices have some impact in your life, there is one that has an eternal impact on your life. That choice is which gate are you trying to walk through.
Make the daily choice to walk through the gate of Jesus. Do not take the easy gate to sin and death that most people are going through but go through the narrow one leading to life. Put all of your life and trust in Jesus and gain life, not death.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will choose the narrow gate that God gives you in Jesus; that God will strengthen you to walk away from all sin; and that you will know the abundant and full life God has for you.
