Acts 4:12 Only One Name That Works

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12

Driving down the road to a destination can often offer different ways to get to the desired location. Map programs will often change the route due to road construction, an accident or very congested traffic. The process of getting to the destination can be short or very long, depending upon which route the person takes.

It is commonly believed that destination to heaven is done in the same way, that there are multiple ways to get there.

After being arrested for preaching about Jesus, Peter was taken into prison. When confronted about it, he tells the leaders that there is only one name by which all mankind must be saved.

One of the common destinations of people around the world is what occurs after death. People are looking for heaven or eternal life.

All throughout the history of mankind, there have arisen many different beliefs as to how a person may get into heaven. Most rely upon what one does or does not do, being self-earned. Some rely upon pure chance and luck of the gods.

Regardless of how many different ‘ways’ there are in this world, there is in truth, only one way to get into heaven. That one way is by Jesus.

Jesus taught that He was the only way to the Father–to heaven. Either He was a fool, a liar, or else He was telling the truth. There is too much proof that Jesus spoke the truth, to believe that He is not the only way to be saved.

Every believer must be willing to tell the world that Jesus is the way to salvation. And every person must be willing to believe on Jesus in order to be saved.

You may or may not be a believer in Jesus. You may or may not be looking at the many different religions of this world.

Take time to read the Bible and see who Jesus really is. Realize that He is the only way to be saved and to gain eternal life in heaven. Choose today to believe in Him, and then proclaim that word to the rest of this world.

Without Jesus, you nor anyone else can be saved or get into heaven. He is the only way.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know what Jesus has done for you; that God will open your eyes to falsehood of other religions; that you will proclaim Jesus as salvation to the world; and that God will strengthen you to turn away from false beliefs.

Proverbs 4:14-15 Where To Avoid Walking

People on a street

Do not set foot on the path of the wicked or walk in the way of evildoers. Avoid it, do not travel on it; turn from it and go on your way. Proverbs 4:14-15

There are many different paths in life for a person to take. It is most common for a person to take the path that the most people have taken.

Choosing that path is easy because it goes with the flow, it does not create ripples or hardships and there are others on that same path. It appears to be the best path because many others are on it.

Solomon says that one should not set foot on the path of the wicked at all. One should avoid it at all costs and go another direction.

The path that the majority of people take in this world is one of selfishness and sin. It is usually a path that goes against God and leads one into more sin. The paths are ones of hatred, vengeance, greed, violence, pride, gossip, jealousy, and more.

There are many ‘believers’ who are taking the path of those in the world, the path of the wicked. They choose to watch, listen or do sinful things, because that is what every one else is doing. Often they do it with the claim that they are free in Christ and not bound by the law.

Jesus did not die to allow a person to sin more, but to free him from the bondage of sin’s punishment. It is to free the believer from continuing to sin on purpose. He has given a new path to walk on that is narrow and straight and leads to life and victory in love, grace and mercy.

Turning towards sin and accepting it as a part of life is to deny Christ and what He has done. The believer must avoid all paths of sin and run the other way, flee temptation.

The world will strive to get you to walk on their path. They will make it look and sound good for you. Avoid it, run from it. Avoid walking in any type of evil or sin.

God’s path for you has true life. It may be narrow and difficult, but it is full of life, leading to eternal life. Do not walk it to earn your salvation, but because you are saved. Walk it to thank God for what He has done for you. This is not to be done out of legalism, but out of love for God.

I pray today that you will know the path God has for you; that God will reveal to you paths that are wicked; that God will guide you from paths of the wicked; and that God will give you strength to avoid sinful paths.

Deuteronomy 13:4 What You Must Do

Two paths

It is the LORD your God you must follow, and him you must revere. Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast to him. Deuteronomy 13:4

Going through life brings many different choices that must be made. Questions as often asked as to what a person should do. There are thousands of different paths that a person can take, and choosing the correct one is often a hard choice for many to make.

Each path as different points that are good and bad. Most people do not want to make the wrong choice. Yet, the majority of the people in this world do make the wrong choice.

The reality of the matter is that it is only one real choice of two paths to make. Every other choice falls under one of those two paths that a person chooses. There is the path of following self or the world, and the path of following God.

Moses tells the people that they must follow God. In the process of following God they must revere, obey, serve and hold fast to Him. There is to be no other gods in the life of a person.

The question is then often asked, how does following God answer every other choice to be made? If a person is following God, He will lead him in the right direction every time. The choice is no longer left up to the person, but up to God to be made.

Around the verse, the people are told to love God with everything in them and to obey Him in every way. This puts God first in the life of the person. God is the one who knows the choices to be made. Believers must trust His choices and directions. Every choice God makes is for the benefit of the believer and for His kingdom. It is a win-win situation.

Trusting that you are a believer and believe in God, you must also make a choice. How much are you willing to trust and obey God? Are you willing to serve God with everything that is in you?

Hold on to God with all that is within you. God is there for you and is not against you. He wants only what is best for you. However, it is up to you to follow, obey, serve, honor and hold fast to Him.

Now you know what you must do, so start doing it.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will follow God alone; that you will serve and obey God with your whole life; and that you will allow God to make the choices in your life.
