Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain! And he shall bring forth the capstone with shouts of “Grace, grace to it!”. Zechariah 4:7
Mountains exist in many different parts of the world. Some are extremely high and cover a large portion of area, making it very difficult to get over or around. Mountaineers find it a great challenge to find a way to climb to the top of the mountain, while the majority of people would rather just view it from the bottom or go around it.
Zechariah records God asking a mountain who it is and that it will become a plain before Zerubbabel. He also says that Zerubbabel will lay the capstone on the temple with shouts of grace.
Just as nations have mountains that create challenges to get over, around or through, there are mountains in the lives of people. Difficulties arise all the time that appear to be great mountains, appearing to be impossible to get over.
Faced with mountains, many people give up and try to go a different route. They are scared of heights and do not want to scale the mountain. They do not feel as though they can get over the mountain of difficulty and run a different direction.
Every believer has been called to do a work. In the process of doing that work, mountains will be encountered. The believer must trust in God to level out that mountain and complete the task He has given.
God is bigger than any mountain in the path of the believer. Instead of running away or giving up, believers are to face their mountains knowing God can make a way where there seems to be no way. By faith, that mountain can be moved or leveled out, making a way to the other side.
Going through life you will face some major mountains at times. God may call you to do a task that is bigger than yourself. On your own, you will fail, but God is with you. God is able to remove that mountain in your path, clearing the way to finish the job He has tasked you with. Do not give up or run away but face that mountain with faith in God and see what God can do. His grace will be sufficient to make that mountain a level plain.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that God will remove fear of mountains in your path; that you will see God level out the mountains in your life; and that you will know God’s grace to complete the task He has called you to do.
