Praise Him for His mighty acts; praise Him according to His excellent greatness! Psalm 150:2
In the workplace, or even the home, people like to receive some praise for what they have done. It gives them value and encouragement that what they have done is worth it. Although praise does people a lot of good, most people do not give it. What is done is taken for granted or is expected, so people do not give out generous praise whether in the home or in the workplace. Everything becomes about self and what one receives, rather than about others.
The psalmist writes the entire psalm about praising God. Here he says to praise God for His mighty acts and according to His greatness.
In the same way that the world does not give out generous praise, many believers hold back their praise also. People get so caught up in their day to day living that they miss out on seeing who God is and what He has done and is doing.
It only takes a moment to realize just a few of the mighty acts God has done in a person’s life. This magnificent world was created by God. Every breath that a person breathes was given by God. The days in which the much needed rain came, or when no more rain was needed, and it stopped was done by God. Recovery from an injury or sickness was provided by God’s great power. And many more things could be listed that God has done.
All of these things and more were done because of God’s excellent greatness and love. With all of these things, the believer has an endless list of reasons to give God praise. Giving God praise honors God, shows reliance upon God and encourages others to see what God is doing and praise Him also.
If you are willing to open your eyes and see what God has done and is doing, you will see many great things both in your personal life and all around you. The greatest act God has done is paying for your sins, forgiving you and giving you life. This at a minimum is a reason to give God praise at all times.
Take time each day to give God praise in the morning, afternoon, evening and at night. Praise Him for what He has done and for who He is. Praise the Lord!
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will see the great things God has done in your life; that you will praise God for what He has done; that you will praise God for who He is; and that your life and words will be one of constant praise to God.
