Romans 6:11 Be Dead To Sin

In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Romans 6:11

In the eyes of the world there is no solid line of right and wrong. Everything depends upon the situation as to whether it is right or wrong, which can change on a regular basis.

Life is about pleasure of self for most people around the world. It is about how they can be happy, regardless of what the action is. If it makes a person happy and successful, then it is acceptable. In this way, there is no such thing as sin in the eyes of the world.

Paul says that believers are to count themselves as dead to sin, but alive to God.

When a person has died, there is absolutely nothing that can affect them any longer on this earth. No one can make them work, or stop working. No one can entice them to do something or not do something. They are dead with no feelings or abilities to do anything anymore.

Prior to becoming a believer, a person is dead to God, but alive to self and this world. His life is governed by the standards of this world–that anything that makes him happy is good.

Once a person becomes a believer and begins to follow Jesus, he is to die with Christ to sin. He is allow himself to be dead to sin so that sin has no more power over him. All desires to sin are done away with, because he is no longer alive, but dead.

Instead of hiding behind faults and past actions, one must be dead to sin. God can and is willing to change a person, to make him a new creation who does not purposefully walk in sin. This only happens when one is alive to God in Christ Jesus.

As a believer you no longer have to sin. Every sin is a choice that you make by your own free will that God has given you. Instead of falling to temptation and sinning, live for God.

Allow yourself to become dead to sin and alive to God. When you are living for God all the time, you will no longer have the time to sin, nor the desire to sin.

Focus all of your life and being upon living for God now that you are dead to sin.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will choose to be dead to sin; that you will live for God; that you will turn away from all sin towards God; and that you will know the life God has for you.
