Isaiah 44:22 Redeemed…Now Return

Misty mountains

I have swept away your offenses like a cloud, your sins like the morning mist. Return to me, for I have redeemed you. Isaiah 44:22

When a person purchases something, he expects to get it. The object purchased is expected to become his property and he is allowed to have it and do with it as he pleases.

Loans are often received with some object put up as collateral to ensure that the person will pay back the loan. As soon as he has made the last payment, the object that was put up for collateral is expected to be returned to him. It becomes his property again, because the full payment was made.

God is telling the people of Israel that He has paid the price for their sins and wiped them out. He had purchased their lives and now belonged to Him. Since they belonged to Him, they were to return to Him.

At the moment Jesus died upon the cross, He had paid the price for sin for every person, for all time. He bought back the people for God’s use.

Every person who has chosen to follow Jesus, has realized that he was redeemed, bought back. However, some have chosen to walk away from God in order to live in sin. They turned their backs on the redemption that Jesus had provided. Some of these fool themselves into thinking that they are following God, because they go to church, but in reality are living in sin, following the world and the devil.

God is telling these people to return to Him. Regardless of what sin a person does, God is right there willing to forgive and forget and move on. He wants every person for Himself. Because of what Jesus did, God owns the rights to every person.

If at some point in your life you have chosen to accept what Jesus did for you, you are redeemed. You were bought back at a price, the price of life. God owns you now.

Do not allow yourself to go back to the old life of sin and death. Don’t choose to give yourself back to the devil and reject the redemption Jesus has purchased for you.

If you have slipped back into a old sinful past way of living, turn around, reject sin and return to God. God is waiting for you with open arms, because you belong to Him, He has purchased your life.

I pray today that you will know the forgiveness Jesus offers; that you will know you are redeemed by God; that you will know you belong to God; and that you will live your life for God.

Isaiah 31:6 Return To God

Rejected paper

Return, you Israelites, to the One you have so greatly revolted against. Isaiah 31:6

The greatest thing that most people like to follow is self or other people. They believe that man is the greatest thing there is and is in complete control of everything.

With following self or other men, rejection of God occurs on a regular basis world wide. Many will never choose God in the first place. Other gods or no god will be chosen by many. People want to live the way they want to live and not be guided by God.

Living in this way is seen because of sin in the lives and heart’s of men. They are blinded to the real truth. Others live this way, because they have never been shown the truth.

In today’s passage, there is a call to the Israelites to return to God. They had chosen to reject God and rely upon others.

While the majority of the world is blind, there are many who chosen to follow God, yet have still rejected Him after choosing to follow Him. There are many believers who have chosen to purposely live in a sinful lifestyle, rejecting God. They have chosen to follow the ways of man, rather than those of God.

All this occurs while claiming to believe in God. This is a sign that the people have turned away from God and rejected Him, just as the Israelites had done. They claimed to still be God’s people, but in the same breath rejected Him following others.

Every believer needs to make the choice in his heart to only follow God. They are to turn away from sin and run after God. Instead of rejecting and fighting against God, they are to live for Him, following His rules and ways of living.

Every day you are alive on this earth, you will have a choice to make. It will be the choice of who you will follow. The world will tell you to follow others and your own heart, that you can be who want to be and live like you want to live.

Living this way is living in revolt against God. It is rejecting God and His plan for your life.

Choose in your heart to live for God every day. Live in a way that is pleasing to God. He has the best plan for your life, do not reject it. As long as you have breath, you have a chance to return to God and live for Him.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will live for God every day; that you will not reject God’s plan for you; and that you will not revolt against God by choosing to follow self or others.

Galatians 2:20 Dead Man Walking

Man walking

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20

The world does not like to have rules and commands placed up them. No one minds setting down rules for the other person, but never for themselves. Rules restrict their freedom to do what they want, when they want and how they want. In the eyes of the world it is a death sentence to real living.

God had laid down some rules for man to follow, yet even with the simplest of rules–don’t eat of a certain tree–man was unable to keep that rule. The law then had power of death over the person and all of mankind. Jesus had come to die on the cross to break that power of the law and make it possible for a person to live for God.

In order to live for God, a person must die to self and the power of the law. He must crucify himself and die.

A dead person cannot do anything on his own. His body is lifeless and of no value in itself. For that body to move, someone else must do the work.

Once a believer has been crucified and died to self and sin, he can no longer do anything on his own. He needs some outside help to move, think, speak and act.

This is where Christ and His Holy Spirit comes in. God has sent His Holy Spirit to come and live in the believer. His Holy Spirit is what gives the body the ability to live, move, think, speak and act. God’s Holy Spirit will only act the way God acts.

In this way, a believer will be able to live according to God’s commands. He will have God’s power to give him strength to turn from sin and to do what God wants.

If you are having problems following God’s commands and struggling to do what God wants you to do, allow yourself to be crucified. Die and let God resurrect you by His Holy Spirit. Let God’s Holy Spirit guide you and speak and act through you.

Live by faith, trusting God knows what is best for you to say, think, and do. Be a dead man walking in Christ.

I pray today that you will live for God alone; that you will allow the Holy Spirit to guide you; that you will live in the strength of God; and that you will live by faith in God.

Romans 6:6-7 Dead To Sin

Gravesite

For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin–because anyone who has died has been set free from sin. Romans 6:6-7

Paul had just finished talking about not sinning any more. He talked about how Jesus died to take away all sin. Now he tells believers that they are no longer a slave to sin.

One thing that every person must deal with in this life is sin. Sin has a grip on every person that cannot be individually overcome. Sin is a part of this life for every person. Each person is enslaved to sin, to the point that they cannot help but sin.

However, when a person dies, that changes.

When a person is dead, he is free from the things of this earth. Every concern that a person had when living is no longer a concern. There are no more bills to pay, no more sickness to deal with, no more enemies, no more getting up early for work, no more vehicle breakdowns or anything else in this life. There is also no longer the ability to sin. The person is dead. It is over.

In Christ Jesus, each person who believes in Him, dies. Their character is crucified and dies. With that the old things of this life die with him. The need to sin also dies in the crucifixion.

Once a person dies with Jesus, he is raised again to a new life. That life is no longer bound by sin. There is no longer a reason to sin. All a person has to do is focus on living for God, and the power of sin will go away. Living for God will destroy the need to sin.

Every morning you get up, you must realize that you are rising to a new life in Jesus Christ. Live for God with everything in you. Focus on Him and Him alone. As you do that, the need to sin will go away. You will no longer have the time to sin, because all of your time will be spent on living for God.

You are free from sin. Now all you have to do is live like you are free from all sin. Stay dead to sin, don’t go back into it.

I pray today that you will know the life Jesus has for you; that you will focus on living for God; that you will know the freedom from sin that Jesus provides; and that you be ruled by God alone.
