Isaiah 34:8 Day Of Vengeance

For it is the day of the Lord’s vengeance, the year of recompense for the cause of Zion. Isaiah 34:8

Vengeance is something that a person desires in order to make a person pay for a wrong done. It is more than just paying a little fine or a little jail time. The one seeking vengeance wants the person to pay severely with everything the person has, to help make up a little of the injustice received. The world thrives on one getting vengeance and cheers for the one that does. None want to be on the receiving side of that vengeance.

Isaiah talks of a coming destruction that will be the day of the Lord’s vengeance and a payback for the cause of Zion.

The world understands the desire to make a person pay for any wrongs that had been done. Courts will cause a person to pay a higher price for a greater damage that had been done. The greater the crime, the easier it is to enact a greater judgement or vengeance against the person.

As a whole, the world does not see itself as guilty of doing anything really wrong. Most people see themselves as a good person, though guilty of some ‘little’ things.

What the world does not see is the guilt of their sin against God. Just one sin, no matter how great or small, creates a guilt that is punishable by death. God is holding off on the extreme punishment of death as a whole upon the world. He is patiently waiting to see who all will come to repentance and believe in Jesus Christ and the work He did upon the cross.

However, that time of patience will come to an end. There will be a day of the Lord’s vengeance upon the world for rejecting Jesus Christ. All sin will be judged that has not been forgiven.

As you go through your days you must ask yourself if you are giving God a cause to bring vengeance upon you or not. You must make a choice to repent of all sin and make Jesus the Lord of your life. Turn from sin and live for God so that He may bless you with eternal life and not bring vengeance upon you with eternal punishment and death. Live for God so that when the day of the Lord comes, it will not be to punish you, but to bless you.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will not give God a cause to seek vengeance upon you; that God will give you strength to turn from all sin; that you will repent of all sin; and that you will know the blessings of God.
