But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
According to the world, true love shows what is in it for self. People ask what they can get out of love for themselves, rather than what they can give to others. Even in the process of giving to others, it is often to gain some recognition or power for self.
The world recognizes that the best love is when one person sacrifices himself to save or help another person. This can be seen among the military and emergency personnel.
Paul tells the people that God demonstrated His love for everyone by having Jesus die for them, while they were still sinners.
It is common for many people to feel as if they need to clean up their life and be holy in order for them to come to believe in Jesus or approach God at all. Many people will not even give God a chance, because they know that they are a sinful person, who cannot really change.
God has a love that is perfect and is willing to go above and beyond the ways of this world. Instead of waiting for people to change themselves, God shows His love by dying for the people, while they are still against Him.
All a person must do is repent of his sins and believe in what Jesus did for him. Once this is done, God can then work on him to change him into the person God wants him to be. He can work on removing sinful habits and making him holy and righteous in Christ Jesus.
The first step in all of this amazing process was taken by God. He chose to show His perfect love first and all people need to do is accept it and then work on being changed.
God loves you. He loves you so much that He was willing to have Jesus die for you, while you were still against Him.
Take a moment to recognize how much God loves you to die for you while you hated Him. Give your life to God, by repenting of your sins and having faith in what Jesus did for you.
Do not reject God’s great love for you. He is willing to give you life, abundant life, if you just trust in Him.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know the love God has for you; that you will know what Jesus did for you; that you will have faith in Jesus; and that you will allow God to change your life.
