Micah 2:6 Refusing To Listen

Holding hand to stop

“Do not prophecy,” their prophets say. “Do not prophecy about these things; disgrace will not overtake us.” Micah 2:6

No one likes to hear bad news, when it is about themselves. They only want to hear good news, positive things.

People who go to the doctor and receive some bad news about their health, often go to another doctor to get a second opinion. Or the ignore the news, not believing it is the truth. They do not want to believe that the bad news is the truth.

Micah was bringing bad news to the people of Israel. Their prophets were telling him to stop prophesying that way. They did not believe it would happen as they were being told.

God has not changed over the years since Micah’s time. He still is against sin and sinful practices. He still warns people to turn away from sin or else there will be disaster and punishment.

All over America and most other nations, sin is promoted as good. Anyone who speaks out against sinful practices is listed as a hater or as one who wants to take away someone else’s freedom to do and live as he desires. As this is done believers are told to keep quiet and keep their belief to themselves.

Every believer is placed upon this earth to be a witness of who Jesus is. One of the things Jesus is, is holy and pure. The believer is also supposed to be like Jesus and tell others to be like Him–holy and pure.  This requires a turning away from sin.

Those who choose not to turn away from sin will eventually face a final judgement. Punishment or correction for living in sin may occur in this life. God does this to warn people of what is to come, giving them a chance to repent.

When God is speaking to you about some warning of judgement to come, do not ignore it. Take it to heart and change as He is calling you to change. Do not allow your heart to be hardened like the world and ignore the prophesies.

If you choose to purposely live in sin, then disgrace will overtake you and you will be destroyed. However, you have the opportunity to turn from sin and follow God. Do not live for evil, but live for God and His holiness and righteousness. Listen to the prophets for God wants to give you good, not punishment.

I pray today you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will live as Jesus lived; that you will listen to what God says through His prophets; that you will not give God a reason to bring on disaster; and that you will speak the words of God to this world.
