Psalm 110:5 At Your Side

The Lord is at your right hand; he will crush kings on the day of his wrath. Psalm 110:5

As David wrote this psalm, he was speaking prophetically forward about Jesus. About two thousand years later, Jesus would come and begin the leading of God’s people. Further on, which as yet to have fully occurred, Jesus will return in power and destroy all the enemy for all eternity. God was and is on Jesus’ side in power and strength.

Often people feel alone in this world. They feel as though no one is on their side and everyone and everything is against them. The battles and struggles of life are huge and daunting. Some may feel as though they are fighting a whole army by themselves.

With this kind of pressure, the fear is very high. Fear of failure and loss weighs on the heart. No one is giving any real support. Many commit suicide because of this loneliness and fear.

There are times when those who believe in God feel the same way. They feel as though they are all alone and God has abandoned them.

As Jesus was getting ready to go into heaven He told the disciples that He would always be with them till the end of time. This statement was not only to the disciples, but also to every person who believes in Him and follows Him.

If you are believing in Jesus and following Him, you may know that He is right there beside you. He is at your right side supporting you through whatever you may be going through. At the moment it may appear as if the enemy is winning the battle, but God is getting ready to bring about a victory in your life. You just have to wait for His timing.

As with David and Jesus, neither saw complete victory right away. Both had enemies that appeared to have won the battle. The enemy may have won the short battle, but they did not win the war. God will win the war in the end. He will crush all your enemies in the end.

The greatest enemy is sin. Trust God to destroy sin in your life. When the time is right, it will happen. God is right there by your side through it all.

I pray today that you will know God’s presence in your life; that you will not fear any enemy; that you will know God’s power; and that you will trust God’s protection in the battle.

  1. Tom, I loved what you said about Jesus and David not seemingly winning their battles right away. That is so true. When we are in the middle of our own battles, it can feel like we will never win. If the Savior of the world had to be patient and win his battle, then so should we. Great article.

    1. Thank you. It is something I know I am in the work of learning all the time. I get very impatient with myself in various battles.

  2. Truly, it may appear at the moment as if the enemy is winning the battle, but God is getting ready to bring about a victory in our lives. We serve the God that’s always on time. Thank you Tom as usual for your inspiring messages.
