Jeremiah 1:19 They Will Fight, But Also Will Lose

“They will fight against you but will not overcome you, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the Lord. Jeremiah 1:19

Battles and wars are being fought all over the world. Some of these are nation against nation, but the majority are individuals against others. People are constantly fighting against other people. Some of these are physically fighting, while many are with words.

These battles occur because someone does not like someone else or what that other person is doing or has. It is often done in rebellion to change something.

God calls Jeremiah to speak to the people of Israel, who were living in rebellion against God. He tells Jeremiah that they will hate him and fight against him, but will be unable to overcome him. God would be with Jeremiah and protect him in the end.

Several centuries after Jeremiah had spoken Jesus had stated the same things to His disciples. He promised that people would fight against His followers and there would be trouble, but Jesus also gave the same word God did to Jeremiah, that He would be with them.

When a person is speaking the truth and it goes against what others believe, they will fight it. Very few people want to hear truth about something wrong in their life. All they want to hear is good news. They do not want to hear that they are wrong.

It has not changed to this day. Believers who stand up and speak the truth are often persecuted and ridiculed. In some places this includes physically and in all places it is verbally abused. The world will strive hard to take a believer out, to discredit and destroy him.

Yet, God is with the believer and will bring him through it. One may go through a lot of problems, but in the end wins eternal life with God.

God has given you a word to speak to this fallen world. It is your testimony of who Jesus is and what He has done. It is a word showing the destruction of sin in a person’s life. It is showing the path that most people are on is leading to death.

People will not want to hear that message. They enjoy where they are and so they will fight you and try to bring you down.

Don’t forget that God is with you. He will bring you through it as you follow and obey Him. Don’t be afraid to speak His truth everywhere you go.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know the message God has for you to speak; that God will give you the boldness to speak His message; and that God will remove all fear of man as you trust Him.

Psalm 29:11 Strength And Peace

The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace. Psalm 29:11

Moving forward in life is very difficult for many people. They get worn out from the battles that are in their lives. As they are going through their days, challenges rise up to stop them or divert them from the path they desire to be on.

The greatest battles that many are fighting are to have more possessions, which is believed will bring more peace and contentment in their lives. In order to get more, people will work more. As they work more, they get worn out and wear down, which then causes them to lose their peace, fearing they will lose what they have obtained or are aiming for.

In the middle of all this, there is also very little peace because of the fighting that is going on in this world of crime, abuse and wars.

David states that God gives strength and peace to His people.

The strength that God gives is the ability to keep going day after day. It is the ability to stand up and keep moving forward in spite of difficulties or battles. When the world is trying to take a believer down, he is given power to stand up and hold on to his belief in God.

God’s peace comes upon the believer in the middle of the battles. He can know that no matter what happens, God is on his side and in the end will gain eternal life. As the world is falling down all around him, the believer has a supernatural peace that God is still in control of everything. When the world is dark all around him, the believer has God’s light shining in him showing him the path to take, bringing great peace and comfort.

No matter what is going on in your life, God is with you. Look to Him for your strength to keep moving forward. As the world attacks you and strives to pull you down, keep in mind that God is with you and gives you all that you need for the battle.

Hold on to the peace that Jesus is giving you. This peace is not the absence of trouble in your life, but that God will bring you through all troubles. It is a peace that in your heart that passes all understanding. You are at peace with God, which means everything.

I pray today that you will know God’s power in your life; that God will give you the needed strength to make it each day; that your heart will be filled with the peace of God; and that you will rest in knowing that God will help you through every battle.

2 Chronicles 20:17 Not Your Battle To Fight

Standing still

You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the LORD will give you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the LORD will be with you. 2 Chronicles 20:17

Everyday people face difficult situations. Situations where there is a battle being drawn up to fight. The enemy is coming against a person in some form. Sometimes it is physically, many times it is in other ways outside of being physical attacks. These attacks can be mentally or socially damaging attacks.

Most people will want to rise up and fight against the attack or they will flee quickly from the attack. Very few people like to stand still when an attack is immanent.

Several armies had banded together against Judah to wage war against them. The number of soldiers was so great, that King Jehoshaphat immediately went to God about it. God told him that the battle was not his and that he was just to stand still and watch what would happen. God would win the battle without the help of King Jehoshaphat and his army.

Very few people like to stand still when there is an enemy coming against them. Most will rise up to fight, but sometimes the best thing to do is stand still and let God fight the battle.

There are many battles that people cannot win on their own. Fighting back will result in more injury on both sides with a loss of the battle by the believer. There are times when it is God’s battle to win. The believer must just stand still, trusting God and watching what He does.

God is the ultimate warrior. He cannot lose any battle. When God wins a battle like this, it is to His glory and honor. There is no doubt that God did the work.

You may have enemies coming against you in your life. These enemies could be actual people or they could be non-physical enemies, such as sickness, pain, injury, mistreatment or more.

As a human, you are limited in what you can do. Seek God and find out what He wants you to do. Sometimes He may give you the strength and direction to fight the battle. Other times He may have you sit still and watch Him fight the battle for you. Let God guide the battles and win the battles in your life.

I pray today that you will know God’s power; that you will trust God’s strategies; that you will see God winning the battles; and that you will be a testimony of God’s work to this world.

2 Corinthians 10:4 A Different Set Of Weapons

weapon of war

The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 2 Corinthians 10:4

Battles and wars are occurring all around the world. From large, full nation against nation wars, to sibling fights of little children in families. It does not take a person looking very far to see some type of war or battle going on. Watching or reading about any news will show that the majority of the news is centered on some type of battle.

These battles can be someone or group physically fighting someone else. Or they may be fighting with words.

The world likes to uses all types of weapons in the attempt to destroy the enemy or opponent. When people hear about battles and wars, most will think about guns and bombs, however, the arsenal is much larger than just those items, and many of which are much more destructive.

Some common weapons that the world uses are: slander, lies, rebukes, cut-downs, and back-stabbing. Words are used to attempt to destroy the enemy. Politicians are constantly talking about how bad another politician is in order to get their own way. Spouses talk about how bad the other spouse is in order to justify leaving. Members of a church back-stab another person with lies and gossip to get their way.

Believers are not to use those same weapons. They have weapons that are better than that and are much stronger. The believers arsenal of weapons are: joy, peace, kindness, grace, mercy, forgiveness and more, along with God’s Holy Spirit and favor. All of these are wrapped up in love, the greatest weapon and full of divine power, because God is love.

Love will diffuse anger, reconcile differences, and overlook wrongs. Walls that people build up can be destroyed by love.

As a believer you are in a war. The world is against you. It is a battle for your soul. You have to choose how you will wage that war against the enemy.

Do not be like many people around the world, using the weapons of this world, cutting down and physically destroying people. Use God’s weapon of love against them. Show His love to your enemy.

As you do this, the walls will come down, the enemy will have to surrender or flee. Satan will run. Don’t give up, but fight the war in God’s way.

I pray today that you will know the power of God in your life; that you will know the weapons God has for you; that you will battle war with God’s weapons; and that the world will see that you live for God.
