Psalm 29:11 Strength And Peace

The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace. Psalm 29:11

Moving forward in life is very difficult for many people. They get worn out from the battles that are in their lives. As they are going through their days, challenges rise up to stop them or divert them from the path they desire to be on.

The greatest battles that many are fighting are to have more possessions, which is believed will bring more peace and contentment in their lives. In order to get more, people will work more. As they work more, they get worn out and wear down, which then causes them to lose their peace, fearing they will lose what they have obtained or are aiming for.

In the middle of all this, there is also very little peace because of the fighting that is going on in this world of crime, abuse and wars.

David states that God gives strength and peace to His people.

The strength that God gives is the ability to keep going day after day. It is the ability to stand up and keep moving forward in spite of difficulties or battles. When the world is trying to take a believer down, he is given power to stand up and hold on to his belief in God.

God’s peace comes upon the believer in the middle of the battles. He can know that no matter what happens, God is on his side and in the end will gain eternal life. As the world is falling down all around him, the believer has a supernatural peace that God is still in control of everything. When the world is dark all around him, the believer has God’s light shining in him showing him the path to take, bringing great peace and comfort.

No matter what is going on in your life, God is with you. Look to Him for your strength to keep moving forward. As the world attacks you and strives to pull you down, keep in mind that God is with you and gives you all that you need for the battle.

Hold on to the peace that Jesus is giving you. This peace is not the absence of trouble in your life, but that God will bring you through all troubles. It is a peace that in your heart that passes all understanding. You are at peace with God, which means everything.

I pray today that you will know God’s power in your life; that God will give you the needed strength to make it each day; that your heart will be filled with the peace of God; and that you will rest in knowing that God will help you through every battle.

2 Chronicles 20:17 Not Your Battle To Fight

Standing still

You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the LORD will give you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the LORD will be with you. 2 Chronicles 20:17

Everyday people face difficult situations. Situations where there is a battle being drawn up to fight. The enemy is coming against a person in some form. Sometimes it is physically, many times it is in other ways outside of being physical attacks. These attacks can be mentally or socially damaging attacks.

Most people will want to rise up and fight against the attack or they will flee quickly from the attack. Very few people like to stand still when an attack is immanent.

Several armies had banded together against Judah to wage war against them. The number of soldiers was so great, that King Jehoshaphat immediately went to God about it. God told him that the battle was not his and that he was just to stand still and watch what would happen. God would win the battle without the help of King Jehoshaphat and his army.

Very few people like to stand still when there is an enemy coming against them. Most will rise up to fight, but sometimes the best thing to do is stand still and let God fight the battle.

There are many battles that people cannot win on their own. Fighting back will result in more injury on both sides with a loss of the battle by the believer. There are times when it is God’s battle to win. The believer must just stand still, trusting God and watching what He does.

God is the ultimate warrior. He cannot lose any battle. When God wins a battle like this, it is to His glory and honor. There is no doubt that God did the work.

You may have enemies coming against you in your life. These enemies could be actual people or they could be non-physical enemies, such as sickness, pain, injury, mistreatment or more.

As a human, you are limited in what you can do. Seek God and find out what He wants you to do. Sometimes He may give you the strength and direction to fight the battle. Other times He may have you sit still and watch Him fight the battle for you. Let God guide the battles and win the battles in your life.

I pray today that you will know God’s power; that you will trust God’s strategies; that you will see God winning the battles; and that you will be a testimony of God’s work to this world.

2 Corinthians 10:4 A Different Set Of Weapons

weapon of war

The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 2 Corinthians 10:4

Battles and wars are occurring all around the world. From large, full nation against nation wars, to sibling fights of little children in families. It does not take a person looking very far to see some type of war or battle going on. Watching or reading about any news will show that the majority of the news is centered on some type of battle.

These battles can be someone or group physically fighting someone else. Or they may be fighting with words.

The world likes to uses all types of weapons in the attempt to destroy the enemy or opponent. When people hear about battles and wars, most will think about guns and bombs, however, the arsenal is much larger than just those items, and many of which are much more destructive.

Some common weapons that the world uses are: slander, lies, rebukes, cut-downs, and back-stabbing. Words are used to attempt to destroy the enemy. Politicians are constantly talking about how bad another politician is in order to get their own way. Spouses talk about how bad the other spouse is in order to justify leaving. Members of a church back-stab another person with lies and gossip to get their way.

Believers are not to use those same weapons. They have weapons that are better than that and are much stronger. The believers arsenal of weapons are: joy, peace, kindness, grace, mercy, forgiveness and more, along with God’s Holy Spirit and favor. All of these are wrapped up in love, the greatest weapon and full of divine power, because God is love.

Love will diffuse anger, reconcile differences, and overlook wrongs. Walls that people build up can be destroyed by love.

As a believer you are in a war. The world is against you. It is a battle for your soul. You have to choose how you will wage that war against the enemy.

Do not be like many people around the world, using the weapons of this world, cutting down and physically destroying people. Use God’s weapon of love against them. Show His love to your enemy.

As you do this, the walls will come down, the enemy will have to surrender or flee. Satan will run. Don’t give up, but fight the war in God’s way.

I pray today that you will know the power of God in your life; that you will know the weapons God has for you; that you will battle war with God’s weapons; and that the world will see that you live for God.

Matthew 27:12 No Defense

Quiet Stream

When he was accused by the chief priests and the elders, he gave no answer. Matthew 27:12

Jesus had been taken as a prisoner by the officials and was being tried. They were accusing Him of many different things. As they were accusing Him, He did not say a word in His own defense, but just stood there listening.

When people are accused of something, most people will try to defend themselves. They do not want to be accused of doing something wrong. Some cases will end up in a court, while the majority never reach that level.

The accusations that a person may receive may be true or they may be false. It is common for a person to be accused of some action that is true, and yet the person still tries his best to defend himself. At that point many people will try to blame others for the action, or they will try to excuse it, give a “good” reason for the action done. No one wants to get in trouble.

Other times the accusation is false. It can be false because not everything was known about the situation, while other times someone is trying to harm someone else. At this, many people react badly fighting for their reputation. Both of these situations occur on a regular basis.

The challenge for believers is knowing what to do with the accusation. Jesus had remained silent when falsely accused. He had never did anything wrong at all and He knew it. He also knew where He stood with His Father–God.

Along with knowing that, He also knew God’s will in the situation. He knew that He had to be falsely accused and sentenced to death. Jesus was willing to go forward with what God had planned for Him.

There will come times when someone will accuse you of something. If you are guilty, you must confess and seek forgiveness. If you are innocent, you must seek God’s desire for you. It may be that God wants you to be quiet. He knows the situation and will defend you. The people are seeking a bad reaction.

Be willing to be silent and let the enemy accuse you, don’t fight in the wrong way. You may end up saying or doing something wrong. Know that you are standing before God, innocent and loved, or forgiven and loved. Either way, God is on your side.

I pray today that you will stand innocent before God; that you will listen to when God wants you to speak; that God will give you strength to be silent when needed; and that God’s love will shine through you to all your accusers.

Matthew 12:18-19 No Quarreling Or Crying Out

“Here is my servant whom I have chosen, the one I love, in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations. He will not quarrel or cry out; no one will hear his voice in the streets.” Matthew 12:18-19

Some of the leadership of Israel were getting upset with what Jesus was teaching and saying. He did not fight back at all. In fact, He left the area and went somewhere else. This was to fulfill a prophecy by Isaiah stating that He was chosen. Jesus had God’s Spirit upon Him and He would proclaim justice, yet not quarrel or cry out in the streets.

People are very quick to cry out abuse or some other crime when they are persecuted for being a believer. When a person loses a job because of his open belief in Jesus, many will call for a lawyer and try to fight back. They cry out in anger and vengeance against the world.

All over the nation people are rising up in anger against some types of sinful practices being promoted in the nation. They are making their voice be heard, but it is not always done in love. It is being shown in hate and anger.

Acting this way is not the way Jesus reacted to the people against Him. His trust was in the Father, not self strength or the government.

Many believers forget that the world will act like the world, like Satan. They are living in sin and do not know any better. Believers, however, are living in a different realm. They are in the realm of God and His love. There is supposed to be forgiveness and compassion.

Looking at a non-believer living the way he does should bring tears to the eyes of every believer. That person does not know the way to truly live life. He does not know the joy God can bring him.

When the world is against you or you see the world not living for God, do not show anger. Show His love and compassion. Actions will speak louder than words. Jesus did not cry out when they pounded the nails into His hands. His love is what will draw all men unto Him.

Don’t quarrel and cry, but show love and compassion. The world will see it and want it in the end.

I pray today that you will be filled with God’s love for people; that you will not fight the world that is against God; that God will guide the words you speak; and that you will be His witness in this world.

Jeremiah 1:19 They Will Fight You

“They will fight against you but will not overcome you, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the LORD. Jeremiah 1:19

God called Jeremiah to speak to the people and the nations. Many of his words that he would have to speak were not very nice sounding, politically correct words, yet they would be the message God wanted the people to hear. God promised Jeremiah that the people would fight against him because of those words, however, God would rescue him. Despite their numbers and strength, they would not be able to destroy Jeremiah.

No one likes to be offended in any way or spoken against and told that he is wrong. People like to think that their choices and decisions are the best and that they are correct in all that they do. They want to be in absolute control of their own lives and not allow anyone else to take away that control.

The gospel message is the number one message that God wants all of the world to hear about. His whole purpose in sending Jesus to the earth was to save the world from their sins.

Yet, as great as that message is, it is also extremely offensive and politically un-correct. In the eyes of the world it is the wrong thing to say.

It is offensive because it says:
* It says you are wrong
* It says you are going to die
* It says you have to give up all control
* It says that you must obey
* It says  you must forgive
* It says  you must love
* It says that there is only one way into heaven

If you speak these kinds of words to most people, most of them will hate you and fight against you. God promised this to Jeremiah, Jesus went through this, and Jesus promised you would also be persecuted for your belief. It is nothing new.

The world does not see God’s love showing how to have the best life possible for all eternity, because they get stuck on the words of them being wrong. It doesn’t make sense that God would die for you, but it is the truth.

Despite the world hating you for the gospel message, God is with you. All the world can do is destroy your body, God has your soul in His hands. They cannot destroy that. God will rescue you in the end. So go out and share that gospel message with the world. Show them that God really does love them, even when they are wrong.

I pray today that God will fill you with boldness to speak His words; that you will be filled with God’s love for the people; and that the world will see God’s love through you.
