The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 2 Corinthians 10:4
Battles and wars are occurring all around the world. From large, full nation against nation wars, to sibling fights of little children in families. It does not take a person looking very far to see some type of war or battle going on. Watching or reading about any news will show that the majority of the news is centered on some type of battle.
These battles can be someone or group physically fighting someone else. Or they may be fighting with words.
The world likes to uses all types of weapons in the attempt to destroy the enemy or opponent. When people hear about battles and wars, most will think about guns and bombs, however, the arsenal is much larger than just those items, and many of which are much more destructive.
Some common weapons that the world uses are: slander, lies, rebukes, cut-downs, and back-stabbing. Words are used to attempt to destroy the enemy. Politicians are constantly talking about how bad another politician is in order to get their own way. Spouses talk about how bad the other spouse is in order to justify leaving. Members of a church back-stab another person with lies and gossip to get their way.
Believers are not to use those same weapons. They have weapons that are better than that and are much stronger. The believers arsenal of weapons are: joy, peace, kindness, grace, mercy, forgiveness and more, along with God’s Holy Spirit and favor. All of these are wrapped up in love, the greatest weapon and full of divine power, because God is love.
Love will diffuse anger, reconcile differences, and overlook wrongs. Walls that people build up can be destroyed by love.
As a believer you are in a war. The world is against you. It is a battle for your soul. You have to choose how you will wage that war against the enemy.
Do not be like many people around the world, using the weapons of this world, cutting down and physically destroying people. Use God’s weapon of love against them. Show His love to your enemy.
As you do this, the walls will come down, the enemy will have to surrender or flee. Satan will run. Don’t give up, but fight the war in God’s way.
I pray today that you will know the power of God in your life; that you will know the weapons God has for you; that you will battle war with God’s weapons; and that the world will see that you live for God.
When he was accused by the chief priests and the elders, he gave no answer. Matthew 27:12
Jesus had been taken as a prisoner by the officials and was being tried. They were accusing Him of many different things. As they were accusing Him, He did not say a word in His own defense, but just stood there listening.
When people are accused of something, most people will try to defend themselves. They do not want to be accused of doing something wrong. Some cases will end up in a court, while the majority never reach that level.
The accusations that a person may receive may be true or they may be false. It is common for a person to be accused of some action that is true, and yet the person still tries his best to defend himself. At that point many people will try to blame others for the action, or they will try to excuse it, give a “good” reason for the action done. No one wants to get in trouble.
Other times the accusation is false. It can be false because not everything was known about the situation, while other times someone is trying to harm someone else. At this, many people react badly fighting for their reputation. Both of these situations occur on a regular basis.
The challenge for believers is knowing what to do with the accusation. Jesus had remained silent when falsely accused. He had never did anything wrong at all and He knew it. He also knew where He stood with His Father–God.
Along with knowing that, He also knew God’s will in the situation. He knew that He had to be falsely accused and sentenced to death. Jesus was willing to go forward with what God had planned for Him.
There will come times when someone will accuse you of something. If you are guilty, you must confess and seek forgiveness. If you are innocent, you must seek God’s desire for you. It may be that God wants you to be quiet. He knows the situation and will defend you. The people are seeking a bad reaction.
Be willing to be silent and let the enemy accuse you, don’t fight in the wrong way. You may end up saying or doing something wrong. Know that you are standing before God, innocent and loved, or forgiven and loved. Either way, God is on your side.
I pray today that you will stand innocent before God; that you will listen to when God wants you to speak; that God will give you strength to be silent when needed; and that God’s love will shine through you to all your accusers.
“Here is my servant whom I have chosen, the one I love, in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will proclaim justice to the nations. He will not quarrel or cry out; no one will hear his voice in the streets.” Matthew 12:18-19
Some of the leadership of Israel were getting upset with what Jesus was teaching and saying. He did not fight back at all. In fact, He left the area and went somewhere else. This was to fulfill a prophecy by Isaiah stating that He was chosen. Jesus had God’s Spirit upon Him and He would proclaim justice, yet not quarrel or cry out in the streets.
People are very quick to cry out abuse or some other crime when they are persecuted for being a believer. When a person loses a job because of his open belief in Jesus, many will call for a lawyer and try to fight back. They cry out in anger and vengeance against the world.
All over the nation people are rising up in anger against some types of sinful practices being promoted in the nation. They are making their voice be heard, but it is not always done in love. It is being shown in hate and anger.
Acting this way is not the way Jesus reacted to the people against Him. His trust was in the Father, not self strength or the government.
Many believers forget that the world will act like the world, like Satan. They are living in sin and do not know any better. Believers, however, are living in a different realm. They are in the realm of God and His love. There is supposed to be forgiveness and compassion.
Looking at a non-believer living the way he does should bring tears to the eyes of every believer. That person does not know the way to truly live life. He does not know the joy God can bring him.
When the world is against you or you see the world not living for God, do not show anger. Show His love and compassion. Actions will speak louder than words. Jesus did not cry out when they pounded the nails into His hands. His love is what will draw all men unto Him.
Don’t quarrel and cry, but show love and compassion. The world will see it and want it in the end.
I pray today that you will be filled with God’s love for people; that you will not fight the world that is against God; that God will guide the words you speak; and that you will be His witness in this world.
Listen, a noise on the mountains, like that of an uproar among the kingdoms, like nations massing together! The LORD Almighty is mustering an army for war. Isaiah 13:4
God was in the process of bringing some judgement upon the nation of Babylon. His method of bringing that judgement was to raise up and army to invade the nation and punish them. Eventually God did destroy the nation and wiped them off of the face of the earth.
Today, in His sovereignty, God still uses nations to deal with other nations. He uses situations in life to control and bring about what He desires.
Although most people do not like war and many claim that God is not a God of war, but only a God of love, it is not true to be totally against war. The difference is that during the Biblical times in the Old Testament, all the wars were physical wars. People literally were killed and destroyed.
The world has a lot of physical wars going on all the time in which people are dying and being killed. Cities are being destroyed. There is physical pain and suffering. This type of events are happening daily somewhere in the world today.
However, God is raising up and army for a different type of war. The war is no longer one of physical killing, but of spiritual killing. The world wants every person to deny God and die spiritually. God wants every person to have life through Jesus.
As a believer in Jesus, you are enlisted into God’s army. This is an army that is to go out and spread the gospel message about Jesus. You are to battle against spiritual forces of evil that are in this world. Satan and the world want to destroy the works of God.
Believers need to be willing to take down the strongholds of the devil and spread God’s great love. War against the spirits of jealousy, anger, greed, gossip, lying, cheating, and all others sins, needs to be fought in your own personal life and in the lives of others.
Are you willing to go to war with God against the spiritually darkness in this world?
Are you willing to fight against the forces that fight for your soul?
God is in the process of building an army today, be a part of it.
I pray today that you will know Jesus as your savior and leader; that you will be in God’s army; that you will fight the battle in God’s way; and that the forces of darkness will be destroyed by God’s power working in and through you.
How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity! Psalm 133:1
Most people in the world are living at odds with each other. Each person wants to do things his own way. Each person wants to have everything work out in the way that works best for himself.
When this way of living occurs, there comes discord and fighting. No one is looking out for the other person, but his own personal interest.
The church often has the same problem as the world does. Each person in the church is trying to have everything run his own way. This creates disunity and discord also.
Think about a car engine and how it runs. If each piston chose to run on its own timing, the engine would not run at all. They have to run together in order for the car to run correctly and do its job.
Living together in unity brings about peace and strength. God is not a god of division but of love and peace and unity. Remember that although He is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, God is still One in unity.
The only people who can truly call themselves Christian, are those who believe in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ for the atonement of their sins. Any person who does believe this, becomes a member of God’s family and should live in unity with all others who believe with him.
There may be many differences between the way different believers worship, pray, preach, witness, and live life, but everyone has the belief in Jesus. That is the only thing that affects salvation directly. There is only one way to God and that is through Jesus.
As believers begin to live in unity with the focus on Jesus and not on all the little side petty details, there will be peace and unity.
As a believer, strive to live in unity with all other believers. There will be believers who get into heaven from every denomination from around the world, you will not be the only one in heaven, otherwise it would be very lonely there.
It is good when people in unity and keep from fighting each other.
How are you working at keeping unity with other believers in your church?
I pray today that you will live with God at the center of your life; that you will love others as God loves them; that you will live in the unity of God with others; that you will know the peace of unity with other believers.
