Job 38:2 Hiding God’s Plans

Who is this that obscures my plans with words without knowledge? Job 38:2

Job had been going through many different trials. He was wondering why God was putting him through the troubles. His friends were judging him harshly because of those troubles. God had remained silent, until now. As God begins to speak, His first words were a question. He wanted to know who was trying to hide His plans without any real knowledge.

Throughout the rest of this chapter God describes many different things that He does. Some of these were laying out the path of the stars, holding the seas in place, causing there to be rain, where the light is hidden at night, and many other things. In each of these God points out that many is no where to be seen in the process.

With God being able to do all these things, He has plans also for each and every man. People, however, do not always understand or accept God’s plans for their lives. They will try to explain away what is occurring in their life.

Those who do not believe in God at all, will try to explain the situations by natural means. Science and cause and effect are looked at to give a reason why a person is going through some situation.

Believers will also try to explain God’s plans away. Often difficult times are seen as judgement for a hidden or past sin.

Job’s friends felt that Job had sinned in some manner to bring on the great judgement from God. Job, himself, felt that God hated him and was against him for some unknown reason. Both were hiding the real reason for what was occurring in Job’s life.

Look back at the beginning chapters and see that God was challenging the devil and proving who Job really was. In reality, what was happening was an honor to Job, that God would think of him that way.

God’s ways are above your ways. You may not understand the full reason why you are going through a trial. Be careful not to try and hide what God is doing in your life. Do not hide His plans. Ultimately His plans is to make you like Jesus–holy and righteous.

Are you trusting His plans for your life?

I pray today that God will reveal His plans for your life; that you will trust God to guide your life; that you will not judge God for His plans for you; and that you will be a witness of God’s love and power to this world.
