The Almighty is beyond our reach and exalted in power; in his justice and great righteousness, he does not oppress. Job 37:23
Elihu talks of the mighty power of God. He goes into details showing that God controls the weather and the sun. No one has the power to do those things. He believes that God is so exalted that He is beyond the reach of a human being. Elihu does get it right that God does not oppress people in His great power.
In many corporations or big businesses, the head person is often in an office that is inaccessible by the average worker. There is usually one or more secretaries who screen all calls and people wanting access to the boss. While many are inaccessible, there are some that hold an “open-door” policy. This means that they are available to talk to about any concerns at any time needed.
The belief that God is beyond reach is a common belief among many people around the world, including in different false religions. There are many that believe in God, but feel that they cannot approach Him or get His attention. These feelings extend from the knowledge that they are sinful, or because they have done something so bad in the past that God will have nothing to do with them.
The writer of Hebrews tells us that we are to approach God’s throne with confidence. Although God is beyond the knowledge of man, through Jesus He has stepped into man’s world to be known by him. God makes Himself available to be approached. He wants to spend time with every person.
God will not oppress you or strike you down when you approach Him. He wants you to come to Him with all of your cares. God wants a relationship with you. If He did not, He would not have sent His Son to die on the cross for you, God would have just destroyed everyone.
God wants to be known. If you seek him with all of your heart, you will find Him. He will not remain hidden. God is not unreachable or unapproachable. Go to Him today and find out what He has for you. Spend time with God and your days will find fulfillment beyond all measure.
I pray today that you will seek God and His presence; that you will have a relationship with God; that you will not fear God; and that you will bring all your cares to Him.
