Job 12:13 All Power And Wisdom Is God’s

To God belong wisdom and power; counsel and understanding are his. Job 12:13

Job is continuing to answer his friends. He mocks them in saying that they must be the only ones with a mind and understanding. Then he points out that all power and wisdom belong to God. The rest of the verses in this chapter look at how God builds and destroys everything that there is. Nothing is out of His control.

It is easy for people to think that they are in control, especially those in leadership. Groups of people who belong to great nations, feel as though they have built that nation to be as great as it is. Some of these nations throw their power around, believing that they can control other nations.

Others are people who have gone to college long enough to get a doctorate degree. They believe that they are the smartest people on the earth. They know what they know and they are right in what they know, there can be no other way, because they have the schooling to prove it.

Yes, people have learned a lot and have gained some power. However, all of that wisdom and power has come from God. No one can learn anything, unless God allows it. No one can have any power, unless God allows it.

Everything that exists was created by God. Nothing can exist without His power and word. Take away God’s sustaining power and you will cease to exist. You cannot create the air that you breathe, or the food that you eat, or this earth that you live on.

God builds up and tears down. He puts things in place and removes things from their place. He provides understanding and wisdom, and can hide both.

As you go through situations in life, you need to remember that it is God who is in control. This world and the things of this world are not in control. You are not in control. Seek God, His wisdom and power, and see what God can do in and through you.

In His wisdom and power God does allow bad things to happen to believers. However, He uses those things for your benefit.

Are you believing and trusting in God’s power and wisdom?

Or in your own power and wisdom?

I pray today that you will know God’s power in your life; that you will see God’s wisdom in your life; that you will trust God’s wisdom; and that you will know that God is in control.
