John 17:9 Praying For You

“I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours.” John 17:9

Jesus is now praying for all believers. He states that He is not praying for just anyone in the world, but for those that God has given Him. God wants to save every person in the world, but not everyone will believe. Jesus focuses on those who do believe.

In life when things go bad for a person, he often feels very alone. He feels as though he is going through that bad situation alone. He feels like there is no one to help him. Often even feeling as though God has left him or does not care about him.

Many believers will call upon other believers in the church to pray for them. They will call the pastor of their church to state their need.

While all of this asking for prayer is good, it must be remembered that Jesus is also praying also.

Who would be better to be praying for you than Jesus? He knows God perfectly. He knows God’s desires for you perfectly. He also knows what you need most in a perfect way. Jesus knows what you need even better than you do.

The ultimate goal of Jesus is to make you more like Himself, who, in turn, is exactly like God the Father. People on this earth are focused on making your life better in comfort. Very few know and focus on the spiritual growth with God. They are not focused on what is best in your life.

As you are going through a situation, do not stop praying and do not stop asking others to pray for you, but remember Jesus is praying for you also. Jesus is in heaven and never sleeps. He never takes a moment off to do something else. He is constantly praying for you.

Knowing this should bring you peace and comfort in your situation. Knowing that Jesus is looking out for you in His prayers. Everything will turn out for the best in the end, if you allow God to use you and do it His way.

I pray today that God will fill you with His peace; that you will know the care Jesus has for you; that you will trust God’s work in your life; and that you will become more like Jesus each and everyday.
