“When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child” Luke 2:17
As some shepherds had been in the fields tending their sheep, a group of angels showed up. These angels told the shepherds about the Messiah being born. They very quickly go and find that baby, who was Jesus. After seeing the baby Jesus, they go and tell everyone everything they know about Jesus.
When a baby is born, the parents and grandparents are excited and hurry to tell everyone about the child. They will often take a lot of pictures and post them on every media possible and show them to everyone on their phones. They are excited.
Part of what they talk about, when talking about the baby, is when was the baby born, the weight, the length, and the name. Many people get excited with the parents. A few people just say that is good and do not really get excited. They look at it as just another baby, no one special.
Many babies were being born in Bethlehem. Jesus was just another one, in the eyes of the world. The shepherds saw something different. They saw Him as the child of God, the coming Messiah, the promised Savior. Since they saw Him this way, they were excited and told everyone about Him.
If you are a believer, you have found Jesus also as the Son of God, the Messiah, and the Savior. Are you excited about knowing Him? If you are excited, are you telling others about Him?
Do not let your knowledge of Jesus become just something normal in your life. Realize the treasure you have in knowing Him. Know the joy of your salvation. Know the life that He has given you.
Stay excited. Run out and tell others about Him and what He has done for you. Be just like the shepherds and new parents in telling others about a new baby. Share the joy of knowing Jesus with everyone you meet.
I pray today that God will renew the joy of knowing the salvation He provides; that you will have renewed excitement in knowing Jesus; that you will not be afraid to tell everyone about Jesus; and that God will build His kingdom through you.
