“Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophet. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols.” Revelation 2:20
Just before this verse, Jesus commends the church for doing more good deeds than they did when they first started. He stated that they were full of love and faith.
Now He is upset with them in that they tolerate a false prophet. This false prophet is in the same spirit as the queen Jezebel in the Old Testament. She led the people of Israel into sexual immorality and idol worship.
In America and around the world, the world is teaching toleration. The world wants to believe that everyone must get along and accept each other’s viewpoints. It is often believed that Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity and all other beliefs can get along with each other.
According to Jesus this is not true. He stated that He is the only way to the Father in heaven. Jesus also said that the path to God is narrow. This means that there is only one way and that is through Jesus, alone.
As soon as a Christian states this, the world fights against him. He is then called narrow-minded, bigoted, and un-tolerant.
There are false prophets and ministers of churches out there that are teaching these very things. While preaching in God’s name, many are stating that all types of sexual immorality is acceptable to God. They also state that there is no real thing as sin.
The problem comes in when the church accepts these people into their church. Here is the type of people who Jesus is upset with in this passage. They are tolerant of the false prophets. They think that they are great prophets of God.
You need to be on your guard against all kinds of false teaching. Do not allow yourself to be swayed by the false doctrines that are being preached. Keep yourself in God’s Word to know the truth at all times in all situations.
Do not become tolerant of false teaching. Raise a warning flag when you hear or see false teachings. Raise up God’s standard to fight against the enemy. This is a spiritual warfare, not a physical warfare. Do not let the enemy gain any ground.
I pray today that God will guide you with His Holy Spirit into all truth; that God will give you strength to stand against all false teaching; that you will stay in the center of God’s Word to know the truth; that God will keep you from being mislead by anyone or any teaching; and that God will work through you to build His kingdom.
