“God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.” Hebrews 6:10
How many times have you done some work that seems to go completely unnoticed by anyone? It happens to people all the time everywhere. A person works very hard at doing a service for other people, but when it is done there is no recognition given at all. People who clean an office building very rarely to never receive any recognition, yet everyone would know it almost immediately if the job of cleaning was not being done.
In the church there are many people who do various tasks that are vital, yet go unacknowledged. Some people take great offense to not be recognized. It is true that we should not be doing anything just for recognition, but we must know that God sees what you are doing. God does not live with blinders on His eyes, not seeing the work you are doing. God not only sees the work you do, but also sees the motivation behind the work you do. If your work is to glorify God and to help others, God will reward you someday.
Do not desire the rewards from the praise of other people for you work. That kind of reward is temporary. Desire the reward from God that is eternal–His acceptance and His word of you being faithful. When you feel depressed about no recognition or you see someone else getting recognized for work you are doing, look to God, the One who rewards best. Do everything you do to please God…not man. Know that your reward will come to you one hundred times over in heaven some day. That reward will be greater than anything anyone on this earth can give.
I pray that today God will strengthen you to continue to work to help others and to love others; that God will give you His Words of encouragement; that God will reveal His ways of rewarding you; that God will help you to do all that you do for Him and His glory and to build His people up in Him; and that God will give you a sense of fulfillment in doing His work in His time and in His way.
