Revelation 11:18 A Time Is Coming

The nations were angry, and your wrath has come. The time has come for judging the dead, and for rewarding your servants the prophets and your people who revere your name, both great and small–and for destroying those who destroy the earth. Revelation 11:18

Expectations for things to come are found everywhere. Some things are looked forward to as being exciting and worth it. Other things are feared because they bring about pain and suffering.

Often the expectations can be predicted by the actions of a person. Living certain ways will usually determine what is ahead in life.

John describes that as the seventh trumpet is sounded the elders worshipped God, saying that the time has come for God to judge and reward people according to their actions.

It is common for people to live in the moment with no regard to the future. People will eat, drink and be merry without any thought of the future results of their actions.

The majority of the world does not believe that God is going to judge them. Belief is that either God is not real or that He loves and would never bring about any harm.

Throughout the entire Bible there are many warnings of God judging those who do not follow and obey Him. At the same time there are many statements that God will reward those who have chosen to believe in Him and obey Him.

In the finite minds of man, it appears as though God will never judge or reward. People have been waiting for several thousand years and nothing has changed. Yet, there is coming a day when it will occur.

Jesus was promised to come the first time and He came. He promised He would die and rise again–and He did. Jesus promised He would come again and judge the world–and He will. Believers need to live with this in mind.

You may be wondering when God will judge those who have done harm to you. And you may be wondering when God will reward you for your faithfulness.

Do not give up and stop believing now. God will judge and reward at the right time. Continue to live for God, obeying and worshipping Him on a daily, even hourly basis. Trust that God will continue to fulfill His every promise.

As you continue to be His servant, you will have trouble, but your reward is coming.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will know the promises of God; that you will trust God will fulfill His every promise; that you will look forward to the return of Jesus; and that you will know God will reward your faithfulness to Him.

Hebrews 10:36 Persevere And Do To Receive

You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. Hebrews 10:36

In order to gain some things of great value it takes perseverance, work and time. Investors say that in order to save and have a large retirement account, one must put in a little every day or week for years. In the same way, athletes must obey their coach, work hard and persevere, in order to win the coveted prize at the end of the season.

It takes a lot of patience and work to get the reward in the end.

Once the author talked about being made holy by the sacrifice of Jesus, he tells them to persevere to the end. This is so that they will receive what God promised after they had done His will.

Becoming a believer in Jesus is easy. It is just a matter of repentance and faith in what Jesus did.

Millions are willing to accept Jesus, but many are unwilling to do the next step–to do the will of God. When things get difficult or don’t make any sense, people are very quick to give up trying. Instead of having patience when things are tough to continue on the path they started, they stop.

Many people are expecting a quick and easy road to salvation. While becoming a believer and being saved is fast and easy, the completion of the salvation takes time and is often filled with pain.

God has called each and every believer to do a work while here on this earth. That work is to spread the gospel message to the dying world. For each person this may be done in a different way, but the message is the same.

The believer who has done God’s will, will in the end receive what God had promised–eternal life, those who didn’t do His will, will be condemned.

God has a mission for you to do while you are on this earth. Do not allow yourself to sit back and just relax, but persevere and work to complete the task He has set before you.

By your obedience in doing this, you are showing God that you do love and trust Him. Just as it was with Jesus, it will be very tough and long at times, but hang in there and you will be rewarded, just as Jesus was.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that God will strengthen your perseverance; that God will show you what He wants you to do; that God will strengthen you to do His will; and that some day you will receive the reward God has for you.

Hebrews 6:10 God Will Not Forget

God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. Hebrews 6:10

It is a very common desire for a person to recognized for the work that he has done. Many people have quit many different jobs, because their hard work was overlooked by the managers.

There are many who do good works out of love and care for others, but quit because of no acknowledgement of their work. Others do the good works, just to look good and get the recognition.

The author states that God does not forget one’s work and love, and will not be unjust about it.

It can be very difficult for a person who sacrifices of his personal time to help others, only to never get a thank you or any other type of recognition. When this occurs, there is a feeling of worthlessness and ungratefulness.

Many in the church do many different types of works of love behind the scenes. Very often they are never thanked and it appears as if God does not see them. Over time they get weary of doing good works and often quit.

God is not like man in forgetting or ignoring what a person does, but sees it and does not ever forget it. He is often setting up the stage, behind the scene, to honor the person in a greater way than man would ever honor him. If nothing else, God will honor that person for his works when he steps into heaven for eternity.

Instead of getting tired and giving up on doing good works, the believer must trust in God and keep doing what God has given him to do. God is watching and will reward at the right time.

You may be one who is doing good works and showing love to others who do not appear to recognize what you are doing. As you do these things, you are being just like Jesus was, doing good works without always being recognized.

Do not grow weary and give up doing what God has laid out before you. He will reward you in right time, in the best way possible. God will also give you strength and His favor to continue to do the work He has given you to do.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will do any good work God has given you to do; that you will love others as God loves them; that you will trust God for your reward in His timing; and that you will never quit doing what God desires of you.
