Numbers 20:8 The God Of The Impossible

Take the staff, and you and your brother Aaron gather the assembly together. Speak to that rock before their eyes and it will pour out its water. You will bring water out of the rock for the community so they and their livestock can drink. Numbers 20:8

Every person has certain needs that have to be met or his life is in danger. Sometimes there appears to be no way that the need can be met. Every avenue of provision appears to be shut off or closed. One is in what is considered an impossible situation with no hope.

As the Israelites were traveling through the desert, they had no water available. After they complained, God told Moses and Aaron to speak to a rock and it would pour out water for them to drink.

Water is one of the essential needs on this earth regardless of where one lives. While most places have water relatively abundant, the desert is one place in which there is very little to no water to be found. Survival can sometimes appear to be impossible.

Situations will often arise in the life of a person in which there seems to be no way of surviving. The difficulty is greater than one can handle, on his own. God, however, is a God who does what is appears to be impossible.

Water never comes from a rock by speaking to it yet, God is able to do so. People have sinned against God and have a death sentence upon their head, but God made a way to remove that sin. No one can walk on the top of water, yet God had Peter walk on water during a storm.

There is nothing so great of a problem that God cannot fix or provide a way through it.

You will have times where you will be faced with situations that appear impossible to overcome. There does not appear to be any solution and it looks hopeless.

Do not allow yourself to complain and go into despair. Look to God and seek His help. Put your trust in His promises to meet your every need, no matter how great or how small that need is and no matter how easy or difficult it appears to be.

If you can trust God with removing your sins, you can trust Him to meet your physical needs. He is the God of the impossible.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that you will seek God to meet all of your needs; that you will trust God’s provision; that you will not lose hope in impossible situations; and that you will see God bring you through impossible circumstances in your life.

Luke 2:1, 3 God Uses Situations To Fulfill His Will

In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. And everyone went to their own town to register. Luke 2:1, 3

Unexpected situations happen in the lives of people on a regular basis. Very few people actually enjoy these situations when they occur.

These situations are a disruption in their life and can often be costly and time consuming. Along with those things they are often uncomfortable. It can cause a change in plans and desires very quickly, yet must be dealt with.

One some day, Caesar Augustus suddenly decides to have a census taken of everyone in his empire. This caused everyone to have to travel back to their hometowns.

Some people probably still lived in their hometown, so it did not mean much to them. Others, however, lived far away and it meant some long distance traveling. For one couple, Marry and Joseph, they lived a good distance away and she was also very pregnant. Yet, they still had to make the trip.

In the end this trip caused Jesus to be born in Bethlehem, not Nazareth, as the prophecies had claimed.

Although most people are not a part of some grand prophecy, God still has a plan for their lives. In order for God to fulfill His plan for their lives, sometimes He has to move them down a different path than what they are on. This can often mean some discomfort and disruption in life.

God may cause a car to break down on the way to work, so that the believer can be a witness to a mechanic or towing person. One may lose a job, so that he gets another job in order to be a witness to a new group of people.

Disruptions can occur all the time, but God uses them for His purpose in the lives of His people. Every believer must be willing to see what God’s will is in every situation.

As you are going through life, there will be disruptions in your plans. Seek God’s Spirit to know what He wants you to do. Ask why He is moving you down a different path and how you can use it to His glory.

These situations may be for your growth or for you to help someone else to grow in the Lord or to come to the Lord.

Are you willing to be used or will you grumble and complain?

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know God’s hand in your life; that you will see God’s plan for your life; that you will allow yourself to be used by God; and that you will work to build God’s kingdom on this earth.

Psalm 25:15 Where Are Your Eyes Focused?

Cat trap

My eyes are ever on the Lord, for only he will release my feet from the snare. Psalm 25:15

When there is a hurricane coming in towards land, most people are focused upon that hurricane, wanting to know where it will hit and how strong it will hit. As they are watching it, they begin to prepare for the strike of that hurricane. All the ‘small’ things in life suddenly take a back burner and are no longer a real concern. Many feel as if they are trapped with no where to go and are just waiting out the destruction.

During times of crisis, people are focused on self preservation. They are seeking ways to survive what is going on and how to get through it.

David had went through many different storms in his life that were set out to destroy him. Men were out to take his life and strived to set up a trap to capture him. Yet, he kept his eyes focused on God, knowing that it was only God who could get him released from the trap set to capture him.

Today the Satan and the world are out to trap the believer. Attacks are set up to destroy him. The problems that a person may encounter appear to be all around, snaring his feet and holding him down. The trap is an attempt to get the believer to deny God and fall into sin.

While it is easy to focus the eyes upon that trap and problems, the believer must focus his eyes and attention upon God, the only one who can release him. God has made a way out of every temptation. He has a path for every believer to make it through the storm or a way to get out of the storm.

To know those paths, one must have his eyes focused upon God and His word alone.

During the times of temptation or struggles that come your way, focus your eyes, all your attention upon God. Do not allow the trap in your path distract you from God.

God will fill you with His Holy Spirit to guide you and get you released from the trap set to destroy you. He is the only One who can overcome what is set up against you. Put your trust in Him alone and see His hand at work in your life.

Where are your eyes focused today?

I pray today that you will be focused upon God; that you will trust God in every situation; that you will allow God to guide your steps; that God will release you from traps set to destroy you; and that you will see God’s hand at work in your life.

Philippians 4:6-7 Get The Peace Of God

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

Peace is something people want everywhere in the world. This is not the peace of agreements between groups of people or nations. This is inner self peace.

All over the place one can see people that are stressed out about some situation that they are facing. Those situations could be dealing with another person, a job, one’s own or someone else’s health, family members, a vehicle, clothing, or something else of concern for the person. Each person’s concerns in life are slightly different from someone else’s, but the underlying principle is that there is not a peace in their lives.

God is always at perfect peace. He never gets worried (anxious) about anything. Why does He not get worried? It is because He knows that He is in control and has the situation under control.

As a human being, you do not have the absolute control that God has. When something is not going the way you like or planned, it can cause some stress and worry. You cannot see the future, so you worry about it.

Here you are told to present your need to God. You are also to do it with thanksgiving. Thank God for the situation you are in and thank Him for how He will choose to get you through it. Thank Him that He knows what is happening and will happen. Then trust Him in it. Believe that He will answer your prayer.

When you begin to trust God with your situation, His peace will come upon you. You will be able to rest in the fact that God is the One who is in control, and not you. In the midst of that storm, you will have a peace that not even you can fully understand. It will pass all understanding.

The world says you have a right to not be at peace, but God wants you to be at peace. Being at peace in a bad situation is putting your trust in God, not yourself or this world.

Tell God what you are going through and facing, then trust Him. Let His peace fill your life and block out all doubt and fear.

I pray today that you will go to God with all of your needs and fears; that you will give thanks to God for everything; that you will trust God with every situation in your life; and that you will know the peace of God in your life.

John 12:16 Not Understanding

“At first his disciples did not understand all this. Only after Jesus was glorified did they realize that these things had been written about him and that these things had been done to him.” John 12:16

As Jesus was riding into Jerusalem the people were giving Him great praise. They were lifting Him up as their king. At the moment the disciples did not realize that He was fulfilling a prophecy that had been written about Him hundreds of years before. This realization came much later when Jesus was glorified, when He went up to heaven.

As a person looks back at that time now, it is easy to ask why they could not see these prophecies right away in Jesus. In the moment it is very difficult to see the larger picture. As a human being, a person only sees the moment. Unless something moves them to look to the past, it is hard to connect the dots.

The challenging thing today, is that this can still happen. All you can see is the moment right now. No one can see the future and you may not know all of the past.

There is a lot of history in the past. You may know a lot of it in a single particular area but there is no way you can know everything. Things that happen today have been greatly impacted on what happened in the past and will have an impact on the future events.

God laid down many promises in the Bible that have an impact today. These impacts will even have an effect on you. You may be going through a situation, good or bad, that be the result of a past action. Or that situation may be to bring about a result in the future.

As has been stated many times, God is the one in control. He sees the beginning and the end. He sees the big picture. Seek Jesus and trust His actions in your life.

Some day in the future God may reveal why you went through what you did. You may then understand the why of your situations. Until then all you can do is keep moving forward and trust God.

I pray today that God will reveal His plans for you; that God will give you His peace in every situation in your life; that God will show the reasons for those situations; and that Jesus will use you to draw many to Himself.
