Ezekiel 24:13 Refusing To Be Clean

Muddy hands lifted up

Now you impurity is lewdness. Because I tried to cleanse you but you would  not be cleansed from your impurity, you will not be clean again until my wrath against you has subsided. Ezekiel 24:13

Some children love to play in the dirt and get dirty. They have a wonderful day on the days it had just rained and there is mud everywhere outside to play in. Children often do not care if they are dirty.

Parents work to keep their children clean. Children will be told to stay away from the mud or out of the dirt. When they come in the parents will quickly try to clean them up from the dirt. Many will fight against getting cleaned up and some will go back out into the dirt again.

God speaks against the people of Israel because of their sinful acts. They had been very impure in acting in sinful sexual acts and thoughts. God tried to clean them up, but they refused and stayed in their sinful ways.

God is a pure and holy God and He wants all of His people to be in the same way, pure and holy. He made a way for that to happen by sending Jesus to pay the price for people to be cleansed and made pure and holy.

While there are many who allow God to cleanse them and they strive to remain clean, there are also many who refuse to be cleansed and remain dirty. They continue to live the same sinful lifestyle with no regard to God’s call to holiness. The enjoyment of sin is so great that they do not want to be clean.

For those who refuse to be clean, there is coming a day of judgement against them. Every believer must allow God to work in his life and make him clean. Doing so shows true love for God and true acceptance of what Jesus has done for him.

As a believer God is at work in your life. Jesus is right there ready to cleanse you and help you remain clean. You have to make the choice to accept or reject what Jesus has done and is doing in your life.

Do not allow yourself to go back into the mud and dirt of sin making your life dirty again, thus bringing upon you God’s wrath. Be cleansed and Holy as Jesus is. He will give you the ability to do so, if you allow His Holy Spirit to guide you.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will repent of all sins; that you will allow God to cleanse you of all sin; that you will allow God’s Holy Spirit to guide you away from all sin; and that you will be holy before God.

Jeremiah 18:12 Continuing To Be Stubborn

Stubborn dog

But they will reply, ‘It’s no use. We will continue with our own plans; we will all follow the stubbornness of our evil hearts.’ Jeremiah 18:12

There are many times that people will refuse to follow instructions that are good for them. They feel that they know what is best and will not agree to anything else.

During times of a great hurricane coming in the order to evacuate will be given because of the danger coming soon. Some will refuse to evacuate out of the stubbornness of their hearts and remain at home. When the hurricane hits, many are injured or killed because the refused to follow instructions of safety.

God had been warning the Israelites that He was getting ready to destroy them as a nation because of their sins of following false gods. He gave them opportunity to repent and stop the disaster, but they refused and continued in their sins.

The hearts of people have not changed over the centuries. God is still in the process of warning people of coming disaster. While the disaster today may not be a destruction of a nation, there is the coming judgement of God when Jesus returns to this earth.

There are times of great sickness and disasters upon this earth today. Death comes in great waves upon nations and people. Yet, while these things happen, people continue to live in sin and refuse to change and follow God. They follow the false gods of fame, fortune, self-pleasure, greed, vengeance, and more to please self, refusing to obey God.

Often there are many in the church who are just like the world. They continue to follow their own little self false gods outside of church, thinking they are doing ok.

Every believer and person, needs to follow God alone. They have to obey His plans and know that eternal judgment is coming.

Examine your own life and see if you are following God or some false gods. Ask yourself if you are obeying what God has commanded you to do or are you doing your own thing.

Do not let the stubbornness and selfishness of your heart win, causing you to continue to live in purposeful sin. Do not follow your own plans, but follow those of God.

Know that God’s plans for you are much better than anything you or this world can plan. His plans bring about eternal life. Yours and the world’s plans will bring only death and judgement.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will obey God’s commands; that God will strengthen you to not follow your own heart; and that you will know the plans God has for you.

Exodus 10:3 Refusing To Be Humble

So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and said to him, “This is what the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, says: ‘How long will you refuse to humble yourself before me? Let my people go, so that they may worship me.’ Exodus 10:3

Humility is putting other people before one’s own self. It is allowing someone else to be above self. The world does not believe in humility. Starting with Satan and going through every person, life has always been about self. Man wants to be in absolute control of every area of his own life. He wants to be the one who sits on the throne of authority.

People want to receive the honor and praise for everything that happens. This even includes many who are in the church. Pride is allowed to be a part of the life of a person, pushing God back or completely out of the picture.

God asked Pharaoh how long he would refuse to humble himself before Him. Pharaoh believed that he was the one in control and even above God, Himself. He refused to let the people go, even though God was proving over and over that He had the true authority and power over Pharaoh and his people.

There are many believers who are also guilty of not humbling themselves before God. They feel as though they are the ones in control. It is all about their ministry, their work, their power, their authority and God is not allowed to be on the throne. In word, they say that God is the King and in control, but in reality, it is all about how they look to others. It is about self.

Humbling yourself means that you will allow God to be the one in control of your life. It means you know that in yourself, you have no control or power. The only control you have is humbling yourself and letting God have the control.

Do not be like Pharaoh and allow the sin of self-pride to rule your life. God had to crush both Pharaoh and all of Egypt to get them to realize that He was in control. As with Pharaoh, it is not about you, but about God and others.

Who are you putting on the throne of your life? Is it God? Or is it yourself?

Humble yourself before God today and let Him be God of your life.

I pray today that you will know the authority God has; that you will humble yourself before God; that you will let God rule your life; and that you will point all people towards God and not towards yourself.
