Matthew 7:15 Watch Out!

Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ferocious wolves. Matthew 7:15

Seeing a person on the surface does not always reveal who they really are as a person. Many people love some actor or actress because they appear to be a wonderful father or husband, or some great person. This is usually seen by a character that they portray in a movie or television show.

While they appear to be good, this is just acting, it is not always the real person. All that is being seen is the outward surface, not the inner character.

Jesus warns of false prophets. These false prophets appear to be safe, but are dangerous, ferocious wolves.

It is easy for a person to talk a good talk, while inwardly seeking to destroy someone. Those who harm children will often talk nicely to them and offer good gifts, until they do serious damage.

Inside the church there are also many who are false. They know all the bible verses, can sing all the songs and know the doctrine, but alongside of all that teach things not of God. The false teachings sound good on the surface, but are just slightly off from what the bible truly says. Words are spoken with false, selfish motives to infiltrate and destroy.

Currently it is easy to find churches that promote sinful activities as acceptable. These are taught under the concept that God loves everyone, thus accepts sin.

The true believer must know what God’s word says and be alert for false teaching. Each person must be careful in what he says and does. Everything must be said or done through the lens of the bible. Only in this way will the lies be seen and recognized.

As a believer, you will hear many teachings and sermons. When you hear some teaching, you must take the time to check what you heard with the entire word of God. Do not take things only on the surface.

Allow God’s Holy Spirit to lead and guide you. He can open your eyes to see deception and reveal false prophets. You can know them by their fruit.

In the same way, seek to know God’s word correctly for yourself. Be careful to not speak God’s word out of context and become a false prophet yourself. Watch out for others and yourself in being false prophets.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know and understand God’s word; that you will be guided by the Holy Spirit; and that God will open your spiritual eyes to recognize false teachings.

2 Peter 2:1 False Teachers

Light in the world

But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them–bringing swift destruction on themselves. 2 Peter 2:1

People all over the world teach others different things. Among all of the teachers, there are some who teach while being ignorant of the truth or the facts of what they are teaching. They have just not fully learned what they are teaching and so are incorrectly teaching the subject.

There are others, however, who teach something different or wrong on purpose. They deny what the truth is about the subject and teaching it in an incorrect way.

One area that has people in it that teach falsely is with the truths about God and His word. While there are many who just have not learned the full truth in God’s word and make mistakes, there are many who purposely teach false teachings about God’s word.

Satan and this world do not want believers to succeed and be right. They do not want to hear the truth found in God’s word, because it is convicting. It states that they are sinners and are in the wrong. So they attempt to change what God has said.

These types of teachings have made their way into the church and are being preached from the pulpit. There are some who state that one can get into heaven with or without Jesus. Others state that one can be a believer, get into heaven and still live in purposeful sin, living as a liar, a gossip, an adulterer, being sexually immoral, a drunkard or more.

Believers must be careful to know the word of God correctly and recognize false teachings. Being filled with God’s Holy Spirit and studying the entire word of God will enable a believer to know when there is a false teaching being taught.

Take time to know God’s word in truth. Do not allow yourself to teach something false or be led by someone teaching something false.

The world is seeking to destroy your belief in God and make you fail. Do not allow that to happen.

When you hear a teaching from God’s word, look into it. Study the entire word of God and make sure it lines up with what God really said. Do not be swayed by a false teaching.

I pray today that you will know God’s word fully; that God will open your eyes to see false teachings; that God will guide what you believe; and that God will remove all false teachers from the church.

Micah 3:5 Proclaiming Peace Or Waging War

This is what the LORD says: “As for the prophets who lead my people astray, they proclaim ‘peace’ if they have something to eat, but prepare to wage war against anyone who refuses to feed them.” Micah 3:6

The nation of Israel had been led by false prophets away from God. The prophets were being greedy in what they would say. If they were being well fed, they would proclaim peace and prosperity. If they were not fed, they would declare war against the people. This was done to force the people to follow them.

Although several thousand years have passed, and it is not as common to hear of the title of prophet, there are many today that work in the same way. There are people in this world that like to be followed and well-fed. In order to get that following they will say whatever needs to be said. If they are not followed and well-fed, the same people wage a war against the rest.

There are many organizations and groups of people that want the financial support of the people to be able to promote their sinful ways. When believers stand up to the sinful ways and declare them to be wrong, refusing to support them, the groups fight back saying that believers are haters and are cruel. The common phrase is that believers are not being politically correct.

At times this can also occur inside the church. If a church starts to proclaim something and someone does not follow it, the church wages a war against the person. This can be acceptable if the church is waging war against sin, but many times it is not.

When you go out and talk to someone, you need to make sure that the words you are speaking are of God. Do not proclaim just what the people want to hear so that you will be well-fed and liked.

You also need to be ready for battle. Satan is out to destroy everyone, and it is a war you are in against false prophets. Those who do not follow God will wage war against God when you do not agree with them. Do not proclaim peace, unless God is proclaiming it. You are in a war against sin, in your own life and the lives of others.

I pray today that you will know the words of God to speak; that you will not be led astray by false prophets; that you will not feed false prophets; that God will strengthen you in the war against sin; and that the peace you seek will be with God.

Micah 2:6 Not Wanting To Hear The Truth

“Do not prophesy,” their prophets say. “Do not prophesy about these things; disgrace will not overtake us.” Micah 2:6

As Micah was warning the people of a coming destruction because of their sins, there were false prophets and people who were saying stop saying those things. They did not want to believe his words, because Israel was God’s chosen nation. How could God ever want to destroy His chosen nation? They felt as though nothing bad would ever happen.

People have not changed since the time of Micah. Most people do not really want to hear the truth about their own lives. They do not want to hear that what they are doing it wrong.

Take a look at the workplace. When a boss comes up to someone and tells him that he is doing his job wrong, most likely the person will take offense to it. Being told that he is wrong is not what a person is usually willing to accept.

Today the world looks at trying to be politically correct. One cannot offend anyone about anything, at any time. The world does not want to hear that they are living in sin and death and judgment is coming. They want the freedom to do what they want, when they want.

This can often occur in the church also. The pastor might start speaking out against certain sins in the lives of people, and many get offended. They tell the pastor not to speak that way. The refuse to hear the truth.

Regardless of what the world thinks or says, as a believer, you must be willing to speak His truth in love. Do not fear speaking the whole word of God, the coming judgment and the provision of salvation.

You must also be willing to take an honest look at your life through the eyes of God and His word. If you look at the Bible, it tells you that nothing you do is worthy of God. That your heart is deceitful and full of wickedness. It is only through the work of Jesus on the cross that you are allowed to be in God’s presence. Yes, God does judge you, but He also provides the salvation you need, if you will accept it.

Are you saying that you do not want to hear the whole word of God?

Or are you willing to accept what God’s Word says about you?

I pray today that you will know the whole word of God; that you will not avoid what God says to you or others; that you will know God’s salvation He provides; and that you will tell the world what God has for them.

Ezekiel 13:3 Woe To False Visions

This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Woe to the foolish prophets who follow their own spirit and have seen nothing! Ezekiel 13:3

There were many prophets during the time of Ezekiel that were going around and prophesying. They were saying that God was saying there would be peace and that God was on  their side. While this was happening, God was having His prophets stating that there would be no peace and that there would be destruction. God was watching this and promised that there would be problems and punishment for this to occur.

Although there are not very many people who claim to be prophets today, there are many who claim to have visions from God and know what God wants. The claims are usually mixed with truth and falsehood. There is truth that God does love people and accepts all who come to Him. The falsehood is seen in stating that God accepts people purposely living in sin and refusing to follow His ways.

Visions of God honoring nations that claim to know God are common, however, many in those nations are not really choosing to know God. Cities are not truly following God. They are accepting sin to be openly practiced and promoted.

In the world, these things are to be expected, but not in the church. People in the church turn a blind eye to the sins inside the church. Inside the church are people who are living outside of wedlock and yet are leaders in the church. There are people who are living in alternate lifestyles in the church and it is accepted by the church. There are people who live to gossip and spread rumors in the church, and yet are not confronted about the sin.

Living like this does not show a person who is really seeing or hearing from God. They are living to themselves, following their own ways of thinking.

As you go through your days consider what you are hearing and seeing from God. Where is God leading you? What is He showing you to do?

Do not be like the foolish prophets and claim things that God has never stated. God will have His day of judgment upon those people. Seek to know and claim God and His Word.

I pray today that you will know God’s word in your heart; that God will show you visions of what He wants; that you will only speak the truth of God’s word; and that you will follow all of God’s ways.
