And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. 2 Corinthians 11:14
Outward appearances are the focus of most people. Taking time to dress up and look good is done by many. Spending large amounts of money on the outward appearance is a large and common expense in the world. The better one looks on the outside, the more it can attempt to cover up what is filthy and ugly on the inside. It can also give a person the upper hand in being believed and followed because one looks good and trustworthy.
Paul talks a little about false prophets and false teachers, then says it is no wonder they are like that because Satan makes himself look like an angel of light.
Beliefs and policies of the world are made to look good and right. Talking about the health of a woman, the world will promote the murder of a child. On the surface it looks and sounds good, until one sees beneath the surface as to what is really being done.
In the same way, many inside the church look and speak a good talk but are really workers of Satan. They have allowed themselves to be deceived into teaching things that go directly against God’s word as though it is God’s way of doing things.
Twisting God’s word, some will say that lying is good, stealing is acceptable, murder is acceptable, divorce is always acceptable, unrestricted sexual acts are acceptable and much more. They use arguments that sound good on the surface, but in the end bring about death.
Believers need to take time to study all of God’s word and know what He says. They need to be led by the Holy Spirit to recognize when Satan is using a person as an angel of light to lead people into sin. They need to be aware of Satan’s strategies.
The world is going to do what it can to deceive you into believing that their ways are good and right. Laws may be even put in place to promote their sinful ways. Some of these ways will creep into the church. Allow God to open your eyes to seeing how Satan is using people to be like him as angels of light, looking good, but promoting evil and sin. Follow God and His word, not the deceptive ways of the world.
Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Lord and Savior; that God will open your eyes to the deceiving ways of the world; that you will speak God’s word in truth; and that God will protect you from the evil being promoted as good in this world.
