2 Corinthians 11:13-14 False Worker Of Light

Masquerade masks

For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerades as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. 2 Corinthians 11:13-14

Paul talked about some people being in the church acting like they were apostles of Christ, yet they were only acting like that. They were teaching false teachings and deceiving the people, all while claiming that they were doing it for Jesus.

Since that time, there are still people who claim to be a believer, yet, are just false apostles and workers. They appear to be good believers because they do know a bunch of scriptures from the bible. They can quote the bible and tell a person why they are a Christian.

Yet, while they claim all of this, they are teaching false teachings. There are many people in the world who rightfully claim that God loves them, which is true. Then they teach because God loves them, they can do whatever they want, regardless of whether it is a sin or not.

There are ministers of the gospel message, who lead churches, that will state it is acceptable to live as a homosexual or lesbian and still be a believer in Jesus. Others will state that is acceptable to gossip, as long as you pray for the person afterwards. Many will state it is acceptable to break a law of the land that has nothing against God’s word. All of these, and many more, are openly saying that it is acceptable to sin against God with no remorse.

This comes as no surprise, because Satan, himself, acts like he is a messenger of God. These are false prophets and preachers, who deceive people into living the way of the world and not like Jesus.

As a believer, you must work to ensure that your life lines up with the life of Jesus and the word of God. Along with that you do not want to allow yourself to be deceived into following false teachings.

The best way to ensure these things is to stay in the center of God’s word and open to hearing His Holy Spirit guide you. Pattern your life after the life of Jesus. Do not allow yourself to be led down the wrong path. The world is seeking to lead you away from God, even while inside some church.

Know the truth and live by the truth.

I pray today that you will know God’s word for your life; that your life will be one like that of Jesus; that you will be guided by God’s Holy Spirit; that you will not be deceived by false teachings; and that you will be a true messenger of God’s light–Jesus.

Jeremiah 23:1 Woe To The Bad Shepherds

“Woe to the shepherds who are destroying and scattering the sheep of my pasture!” declares the LORD. Jeremiah 23:1

God was preparing to destroy Judah because of the sins of the people. He gave many warnings that it would happen. Even though this was God’s plan, there were many of the leaders of the temple that were trying to say something different. They had their own priests and prophets saying that God would bring about peace. They were also leading the people into the sin of following false gods. The people were being destroyed and scattered because of the way they were being led.

God gives them a warning that He would punish them for doing this. As He would destroy them, He would also bring out a remnant of the people, who they were leading wrong, to restore and build up again.

Shepherds are the ones who are supposed to lead the sheep to the best food and water. They are to protect them from the enemy. If the slack off on any of their duties, the sheep will scatter and be destroyed.

Ministers, preachers, and evangelists are always considered the shepherds or leaders of the people in the church. Although this is true, that does not mean that other people are not shepherds also. Many people, who are not preachers, also are leaders of other people. They are the ones who lead and guide some people in the walk in this life. Many are parents, while others are teachers, or mentors, or bosses of others.

People today are teaching or leading others down paths of sin that are against God. False teachings are being taught in the churches, as though it is God’s word. Prophecies are being made that God will overlook sinful acts, because of His great love. Prayers for God’s peace are being made, without a call to repentance from sin. Adultery, drunkenness, lying, cheating, gossiping, stealing, jealousy, hatred, oppression, racism, and many other sins are accepted in the church as acceptable. These are just a few ways of destroying and scattering God’s sheep. God will hold them accountable.

As a believer, you must correctly speak God’s word. Speak the truth in love at all times. Do not allow yourself to be guilty of destroying His sheep, because you spoke of God’s word in a false way. Seek God’s direction in His word as you live it and lead others with it.

I pray today that you will know God’s word in truth; that you will speak God’s word in truth; that you will not be guilty of leading others wrong; and that God will strengthen you to live in righteousness for Him.

1 John 2:26 Trying To Lead You Astray

“I am writing these things to you about those who are trying to lead you astray.” 1 John 2:26

John talks about what he is writing about. Looking at the verses just before he makes this statement, he was writing about those who deny Jesus. They try to state that there are other ways to God and bring in false teachings.

This is a common event every where a person goes. Some people are very direct in their beliefs. Those who are Islamic will very distinctly point you away from Jesus. They have no room for Jesus, other than He was a prophet.

Most often you will see people who are not so directly against Jesus. They state that they believe in Jesus, but also believe in Buddah, or Muhammed, or some other false belief. Others will also state they believe in Jesus while believing that you can live in direct sinful ways.

All of these people are trying to lead you astray. They are trying to get you to live differently than what Jesus would want. The Bible is not the central authority in their lives. It is whatever feels good at the time that is center of their lives.

People who try to lead astray can be found everywhere, including inside of churches. Some are even in leadership in the church.

In order to not be led astray, you must keep yourself grounded in God’s Word and in prayer. Keep your heart open to hearing what God has to say, not what people have to say. Allow God’s Holy Spirit to guide you and keep you on the right path.

When you stop in any of these areas, you allow yourself to be led off the path God has for you. This can even happen from well-intentioned people. The disciples tried to stop Jesus from going to the cross, yet that was not God’s plan for Jesus.

Are you on His path?

Or are you on your own path or a path of the world’s choosing?

Stay with God and on His path and don’t be led astray.

I pray today that God will guide you in the path He wants you on; that you will be sensitive to the moving of the Holy Spirit; that God will reveal to you those who are trying to lead you astray; and that God will make you more like Jesus everyday.

Revelation 2:14 False Teachings

“Nevertheless, I have a few things against you: There are some among you who hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to entice the Israelites to sin so that they ate food sacrificed to idols and committed sexual immorality.” Revelation 2:14

The next church Jesus speaks about is Pergamum. He tells them that they remain true to their faith in Him despite where they live. They lived in a city where a faithful witness was to put to death because of his witness of Jesus.

Although they would not deny Jesus at all, they still held to some false teachings. The false teachings of Balaam were ones that enticed the people to eat food sacrificed to idols and to commit sexual immorality.

All around there are many people who claim to be Christian and believe in Jesus for salvation, yet, still hold to the teachings of Balaam. Although there is no Balaam today, there is the same types of teachings.

Look at the movies, music, books and magazines of this world and you will see the teachings of Balaam. Today there is not real idols that people bow down to, but there are things that stand in the place of those idols of ancient times that people bow down to.

People bow down to things today in the insistence of having those items. Some people follow other people with a devoted following that is the same as idol worship. Many look down on other people who do not have the same status or things that they have…again, idol worship.

Along with the idolizing of things there is sexual immorality seen everywhere. How many movies are about a couple in a wrong type of relationship? How many songs are about wrong sexual actions?

Many Christians today will never directly deny Jesus, yet they will idolize music or a movie or a person. Many Christians will also have sexual immorality in their life or they will accept it in a movie or song. Too often these actions are looked at as just being human or a part of life.

As a believer in Jesus you must guard yourself against these types of thinking and actions. Do not allow yourself to be led by the teachings of Balaam in this world. Keep yourself pure from idol worship and all sexual immorality.

I pray that today God will fill you with His Holy Spirit to guide you; that God will guard you from false teachings; that you will not follow any false teachings; and that you will remain true to God in all that you say and do.
