Micah 3:5 Proclaiming Peace Or Waging War

This is what the LORD says: “As for the prophets who lead my people astray, they proclaim ‘peace’ if they have something to eat, but prepare to wage war against anyone who refuses to feed them.” Micah 3:6

The nation of Israel had been led by false prophets away from God. The prophets were being greedy in what they would say. If they were being well fed, they would proclaim peace and prosperity. If they were not fed, they would declare war against the people. This was done to force the people to follow them.

Although several thousand years have passed, and it is not as common to hear of the title of prophet, there are many today that work in the same way. There are people in this world that like to be followed and well-fed. In order to get that following they will say whatever needs to be said. If they are not followed and well-fed, the same people wage a war against the rest.

There are many organizations and groups of people that want the financial support of the people to be able to promote their sinful ways. When believers stand up to the sinful ways and declare them to be wrong, refusing to support them, the groups fight back saying that believers are haters and are cruel. The common phrase is that believers are not being politically correct.

At times this can also occur inside the church. If a church starts to proclaim something and someone does not follow it, the church wages a war against the person. This can be acceptable if the church is waging war against sin, but many times it is not.

When you go out and talk to someone, you need to make sure that the words you are speaking are of God. Do not proclaim just what the people want to hear so that you will be well-fed and liked.

You also need to be ready for battle. Satan is out to destroy everyone, and it is a war you are in against false prophets. Those who do not follow God will wage war against God when you do not agree with them. Do not proclaim peace, unless God is proclaiming it. You are in a war against sin, in your own life and the lives of others.

I pray today that you will know the words of God to speak; that you will not be led astray by false prophets; that you will not feed false prophets; that God will strengthen you in the war against sin; and that the peace you seek will be with God.
