Romans 9:2 Having Great Sorrow

I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. Romans 9:2

Having great sorrow in a heart is very common to many people. Often it is due to a loss of a loved or some other type of loss–such as job loss, health, money, things, or friends.

Many in the world do not know how to deal with extreme sorrow and anguish in the heart. It tears them up and destroys their days. Some will try to end the sorrow by choosing suicide over life.

Paul promises that he has great sorrow and anguish in his heart. This sorrow is over the Jewish Israelites who are rejecting Christ and are cut off from life.

No matter where a person lives in this world, if he is a believer and follower of Jesus, he knows someone who is not a believer. This is something that occurs in every nation, city, town, and countryside around the entire world. No place is immune to it.

Sadly many believers are numb to the fact that most people they meet are not believers. People in the church have grown used to the idea that the world, as a whole, does not believe in Jesus and are dying, going to hell. It does not affect their heart.

The believer who is running after God and has an understanding of His heart, will also have a heart that breaks in sorrow for those who are lost. He will see the lost as dying and with no hope and he will weep over what he is seeing.

That sorrow can be used by God to motivate the believer to be His witness to those dying. It will help him realize that there is a great need to get the gospel message out to as many people as possible, because people are dying with Christ.

As a believer, someone had taken the time to tell you about Jesus. Look around you and see how many more people still need to hear about Jesus. See the world as God sees it, people dying without true life.

You have the message that the world needs to hear and they need to hear it today. Allow your heart to break at the death that is occurring right before your eyes, and then let it motivate you to tell more people about Jesus. Give them a chance to believe.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will see the world as God sees it; that you will see the people dying who need Jesus and weep in your heart; and that you will tell everyone you can about Jesus.

2 Thessalonians 3:1 Need For Speed

As for other matters, brothers and sisters, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you. 2 Thessalonians 3:1

Watching television, people will see hundreds of advertisements. Once in a while there will be an advertisement that says that it is urgent that one acts upon some sale. It is only for a very short limited time. The message is pushed hard to get it out to as many people as possible, as quickly as possible.

The reason for the hard push is to get results in a higher number of sales. The more people who hear it, the more who will make the purchase.

As Paul finishes this letter, he tells the people to pray that the gospel message he is presenting may spread more and more rapidly and that people will honor and accept it.

As important as it is for businesses to get the message out for a product they sell, there is a message that believers have that is even more important. The message of the gospel of Jesus is one of life and death importance.

Across the world there are approximately 256 people born every minute. At the same time, there are approximately 120 people dying in that same minute. None of those who are born and the majority of those who die have never heard of the salvation Jesus provides.

People are dying for all eternity because they do not know the truth.

Every believer has the truth and it needs to spread across the globe more and more rapidly. Since it is a matter of life and death, it cannot travel too fast.

The two things believers can do to stop the problem is to pray and to spread the gospel message as much as possible. God does not want anyone to perish.

Someone took the time to share the gospel message with you. As a believer now, you must take the time to share that same saving message with others.

Pray that God will show you ways to spread that message faster. Pray that God will raise up more workers to spread that saving message more. Pray that God will stir more hearts to accept Jesus as their Savior.

As thousands of people are being born and are dying every minute, how fast are you working to get the message of Jesus out to them?

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will desire to spread the gospel message of Jesus to the world around you; that you will know the urgency of being a witness for Jesus; that you will pray that God will draw more people to Jesus; and that God will use you to save more lives from eternal judgement.

Luke 23:46 In God’s Hands

Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” When he had said this, he breathed his last. Luke 23:46

Last moments of life, going into death, are often scary for most people. They do not know what to expect. They often cling to life refusing to want to give up and die. The unknown is something that awaits them and it is fearful.

It is in these last moments of life that many people realize how temporary life is and how little material things really are.

As Jesus was giving up His last breaths of life and dying, He committed His Spirit to the Father, God, and died.

The commitment of His Spirit to the Father is His absolute trust in God to take care of His Spirit and bring Him back to life.

Just as those in the world fear death, there are some believers who fear it also. They question what they believe and what God is going to do. As this happens, it is a sign that they really don’t know or understand God’s great, eternal and perfect love for them.

The only reason God sent Jesus to die was to save people from their sins and give them eternal life. This is perfect love. Knowing this, the believer can trust God’s word and His actions. God will never go back on His word.

At the moment a believer fully trusts God’s perfect word, he can face death with the peace Jesus had. He will be able to commit his life and spirit to God, knowing God will raise him from the dead to eternal life.

This takes away all the fear and unknown of death. There is eternal life found after physical death on this earth.

You may or may not have come close to death yourself. You most likely have seen known of others to die. When you are faced with death, you may have wondered what is next and if you are ready for it. Questions may arise in your heart about whether God will save you or not.

As long as you believe in the work and grace of Jesus and you repent of your sins, God will save you. The life you now live is only temporary. Commit your life and Spirit to God and He will give you eternal life.

Rest in knowing God loves you, forgives you and will raise you from the dead.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will know God’s love for you; that you will know God’s mercy towards you; and that you will commit your life and spirit into God’s hands.

Amos 9:9 A Great Shaking

Shaking out flavor

For I will give the command, and I will shake the people of Israel among the nations as grain is shaken in a sieve, and not a pebble will reach the ground. Amos 9:9

Shaking something up moves things around and changes everything. Sometimes it is done to mix things up, as in cooking, to get the flavor throughout the product. Other times it can be a shaking to remove loose and dead things.

Some businesses will go through a shaking in order to bring new life to them. For some people it will wake them up and get them going, while for others it will knock them out of the picture.

God warns the people that there will be a shaking going on in Israel. This shaking would be to scatter the people among the nations. The shaking would occur because of their sin and refusal to follow Him.

God is still in the business of shaking people and nations. His desire is for everyone to follow and obey Him. However many have chosen to not obey Him or even follow Him at all. Sin is chosen over serving God. And the church has fallen for this type of living.

The use of natural disasters and sicknesses are some ways God is able to shake people. He is shaking the church and nations to wake them up or move them out. Depending upon how a person takes the shaking, it can either stir them back to life with God, or destroy them and remove them.

Every believer who wants to serve God will be woke up as God shakes them. It will cause them to live more for God than ever before. Those who are lukewarm in their walk with God will roll over and stay asleep, dying in their sins rather than repenting and living for Him.

During this time of crisis around the world, God is doing a shaking. He may be allowing this shaking in your life to get your attention placed back upon Him and not the things of this world.

Do not allow yourself to live in fear or in the ways of this world, but to turn to God and His ways. Wake up and be the witness God has called you to be in this dark and dying world of sin. Move out of sin and into His righteousness and holiness, otherwise God will shake you out of His house.

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will be alive to God; that you will be His witness in this world; that God will fill you with His life; and that God will give you strength to turn from all sin.

Ezekiel 22:30 Stand In The Gap

Gap in rock wall

I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the Land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one. Ezekiel 22:30

There are people who are mediators that stand in between two people or groups of people to represent both. Their whole purpose is to help both groups out for each one’s best interest. It is helping the weaker one be able to move up and the stronger one to step down into agreement.

Doing something like this is a difficult job, because it requires understanding of both sides. Some will hate a person for doing something like this, because it may feel like it is going against their way of doing things.

God was getting ready to destroy the land. He searched for person who would stand in the gap for the land and the people. This person would plead for their cause and seek to restore them to God. However, God was unable to find anyone willing to do that.

Although God may or may not be getting ready to destroy a land or people physically, there is soon a coming day in which He will judge all people and destroy the earth. This is the final judgement against sin and every person will be judged.

He is still looking for someone to stand in the gap. This person is what Jesus called the witness. Everyone who follows God is to be His witness to everyone else he meets. Being the witness is standing in the gap letting the people of this world know that there is a coming judgement. This judgement can be escaped by believing in and following Jesus with all of their heart and life.

Sadly, many in the church do not want to stand in the gap. They want God to judge and destroy the world and their enemies.

You have a choice to make. God is calling you to be His witness. He is calling you to stand in the gap for the people.

As His witness you are His representative upon this earth. You are also their representative before God. You can plead their challenges and struggles before God to bring the walls down in their lives. You can plead for God to change their heart and call them towards Him. This is standing in the gap for the lost.

Are you standing in the gap for others today?

I pray today that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that you will be His witness to this lost and dying world; that you will stand in the gap before God for the lost; and that many will come to Jesus and be saved through your stand.
