John 9:39 Can You Really See?

Jesus said, “For judgment I have come into this world, so that the blind will see and those who see will become blind.” John 9:39

Sight is something most people believe that they have, when talking about natural vision. They can see things that are physical in nature.

Insights into things that are spiritual or non-physical are often not seen by most people. They are blind to what is going on outside the physical realm of this world.

Jesus stated that He came so that those who cannot see will see and that those who can see will be unable to see.

One of the beliefs running through America is for people to be a ‘woke’ people. Many are claiming to be woke up to the reality of things occurring in this world. This belief has also worked itself its way into the church.

The world believes that they can see the truth and that belief in God or church is wrong. Anyone who sees in this way is blind and cannot really see the truth set before them.

Jesus came to open the spiritual eyes of spiritually blind people. Those who have seen Jesus for who He is, is willing to allow Him to reveal the spiritual truths around them.

They will be able to discern (see) God at work in and around them. They will be able to discern (see) what God desires of them. They will also be able to discern (see) what the enemy, the world, is doing or trying to do.

Those who refuse to see Jesus as Savior, God is allowing them to remain blind as to what God is doing. He will allow them to remain blind in their fallen sinful ways, though He continually calls them to open their eyes and see the truth.

While it is important that you may see with your physical eyes, it is more important to see with spiritual eyes. You need to allow God to open your spiritual eyes to see what God sees.

Do not allow yourself to remain blind to the truth found in God’s word. Do not allow yourself to be blind in believing that it is acceptable to live in sin and still get into heaven.

See the reality of the false lies that this world is trying to teach and promote. See the reality that believing in Jesus is the only way to know true life.

Today I pray that you will know Jesus as your Savior; that God will open your spiritual eyes to see; that God will reveal the lies of this world; that you will see what God is doing; and that you will not be blind to the truth in God’s word.

Deuteronomy 27:18 Leading The Blind

Blind man walking

“Cursed is anyone who leads the blind astray on the road.” Then all the people shall say, “Amen!” Deuteronomy 27:18

God had the Israelites gather on two different mountains. On one side, the people would call out various curses, while on the other mountain, the people would agree to those curses. They would call out different things that people may do that would get them cursed by God. One of these was leading a blind person down the wrong path as he is walking on road.

It is a fairly common rule to not lead a blind person astray any where he is. People are generally kind enough to lead a blind person correctly, at least physically. There are some people who are cruel enough to lead a physically blind person down a wrong path, but those are not very many.

However, there is a different type of blindness that people have that the majority of people are quick to lead down a wrong path. That blindness is a spiritual blindness. Every person has this blindness at the beginning of life, and continue to have it until they turn to Jesus.

While having the correct heart in trying to help those who are spiritually blind, many people end up leading them down the wrong path. They themselves are often spiritually blind.

This is done by many people in the church, who are believers. They focus on following the rules of God, and forget about the mercy and grace of God in the life of a person. They are quick to condemn a person, rather than guide them to God’s great love and show them love.

These are just a couple of ways that people lead a blind person down the wrong path. They are focusing on actions and sin, rather than on Jesus and love. While their heart may be trying to do right, they are doing harm.

As a believer, your first focus should be on Jesus and pointing people to Him. This focus should show the love, mercy and grace that Jesus has for you and everyone else. No person can follow every rule perfectly, otherwise, Jesus would never have had to come.

Every person needs that love, mercy and grace just as much as you needed it. Be careful not lead others down the wrong path while they are still blind. Do not be spiritually blind yourself. Jesus is the light, so show the light.

I pray today that you will know the light of Jesus; that you will not be spiritually blind; that God will open your spiritual eyes to see clearly; and that God will guide you in leading others correctly.

John 9:25 Tell What Did He Do For You

“He replied, Whether he is a sinner or not, I don’t know. One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!” John 9:25

The disciples saw a blind man. They wanted to know who sinned as to why the man was born blind. Jesus said neither, then healed the man. The Jewish leaders were upset and asked who it was that healed him. The man tells them that it was Jesus. The leaders were upset and stated that Jesus was a sinner. The man replies that he did not know anything about whether Jesus was a sinner or not, but just that at one time he could not see and now he can because of Jesus.

As you go through life as a witness for Jesus many people in this world will have thoughts for you. They will have some type of answer as to why Jesus is not real or cannot do what He said. The world will try to discourage you and break your faith in Jesus.

Often as a believer you will not allows have the answers to combat the thoughts of the world. You could be a new believer and have not studied the Bible enough to know many answers. Most believers will not have a degree from a college in Bible study. That is acceptable.

One thing you have as a believer is what Jesus did for you. You have your own testimony of what has happened in your life. Talk about that. Talk about what you know is true.

Do not allow yourself to be drawn into a debate that you really don’t know the truth about. It is the way the world tries to get you off focus of Jesus and to begin to doubt what has happened in your life.

You know that at one time you did not believe in Jesus and now you do. Why? Tell that story. Each person has had an answer to a prayer. Tell that story. Tell the things you know and don’t worry about the rest.

I pray today that God will do a work in your life that you and the world will see; that God will open doors for you to share with others what He has done for you; that God will fill you with His Holy Spirit to guide you; that you will have the boldness to tell what God has done in and through you; and that many will be drawn to Jesus through your testimony.
