The Mystery Of The Shemitah (book review)

Jonathan Cahn had first written a book titled: The Harbinger. For a short synopsis of that story it is a novel story of a man who reveals seven harbingers (signs) on the judgement of America. In this book he now breaks down in detail the seven signs and more dealing with an ancient mystery that may be tied to America’s fate.

He starts out with getting a full understanding of what the mystery is when it was started nearly 3,000 years ago in ancient Biblical times and reveals how it ties to America today. Part of that mystery is a seven-year cycle set up by God that can be seen to this day in America. Revealing cycles of economic prosperity and depression can be seen as possibly a part of those seven-year cycles. Along with the seven-year cycles, he looks at the significance of towers and their implications throughout history and in America.

Throughout the book he uses a lot of data that can be looked up and verified as correct in the dates as to when it occurred.

Parts of the book does feel like it is very repetitive of what was already said. However, it does open the eyes to the possibility that what he is saying may be true and that judgement by God is starting to be placed upon America due to the choices having been made.

I cannot say that what he is saying in this book is completely accurate and God is judging America, but I cannot deny that it is extremely possible. Since the book was written in 2014 there have been a lot of changes in America that appear that America is choosing to deny God. There has also been events that have occurred since then that line up with the seven-year cycle that Jonathan wrote about.

I highly recommend you read this book with an open mind to its possibilities and be led by the Holy Spirit as to what to do with the information learned in your life and in your community.

The Harbinger (book review)

This book is a novel that is documentary/fictional story based upon true facts with the author’s belief as to what those events mean. Jonathan Cahn in the story takes a look at what is happening in America and sees the events as warnings or judgements of God against America.

Nouriel, the main character (there are only three characters in the entire story) is mysteriously given an old coin by mail with no message or meaning to it. Later he is met by an unnamed man who helps him uncover the meaning of that coin and is given, one by one, eight other coins to discover their meanings. Each of these coins link America to ancient Israel and Solomon and God’s judgements upon both.

The primary verse that is looked at is Isaiah 9:10. Throughout the story, Jonathan quotes many different presidents, politicians and leaders, in real life, in linking them to what Israel had done and America is currently doing that is bringing upon America God’s judgement. The events begin with 9/11 and lead up to the fall of the stock market in 2008. In the end he is challenged to determine what he must do with what he now knows.

Every quote and event mentioned have footnotes that show a link where it can be verified that they actually occurred. I had checked many of them for verification and also because I did not honestly believe that some of the people had said some of the things that were quoted. All of them were true.

As a believer it will challenge one to think about how he sees things that are occurring and how God’s hand is in those events. This story is not a feel good, happily ever after story, but one that paints a picture of coming doom if no change occurs. After reading this it is very difficult to state that what Jonathan points out is not actually very possible, but extremely probable.

One thing that I was concerned with in this story is that there is no mention of following Jesus, only in following and obeying God. Other than that, I highly recommend reading this book. And as you read it, open your heart to what God may be saying and doing in America.

Epoch–The Rise And Fall Of The West (book review)

Kevin Swanson takes a brief, but very well covered look at the rise and fall of the West–Europe and America. He begins by looking at what made the West so great that it became the major powers of the world.

Going back into ancient history, he looks at various nations and what brought them to great power and what led to their downfall. As he looks at these various factors, he brings it to the present and shows how Europe and America has made the same choices leading to rise and fall.

The overall view of this entire book is one of the Christian view, that with God a nation will rise and without God a nation will fall. Some of the things he looks at are: the rise and fall of the church, Christian civilization, humanity, charity, science, economy, culture, sexuality, liberties, and education.

Looking at these various areas of life, he points out how the enemy, the devil, uses men to turn the heart of the nation away from God and look to self. Morality and the commands of God are thrown out in seeking self-pleasure at any cost.

About 29 pages are dedicated to giving sources to things he quotes or references throughout the book.

This book is very hard hitting at both the “church” and the nation as a whole. It reveals very clearly how Europe has fallen and America is now falling. Since this book was written in 2021, it also includes current events of the recent riots in America, LGBTQTIA+, and COVID worldwide.

I highly recommend everyone to read this book. It is a long book, but an easy read. The flow of the reading is very easy to understand and keep one reading. Once I started reading this book, it was very difficult to put it down. It will also break your heart when it opens your eyes to what is going on with the big picture of the nations.

Fault Lines (book review)

Fault Lines: The Social Justice Movement and Evangelicalism’s Looming Catastrophe (book review)

Voddie Baucham is pastor, speaker, church planter and dean of a Christian college in Zambia, Africa. He takes a look at what is occurring in America at this time and its affects upon the church.

He starts off with telling his own story of struggle as a black child growing up in America with a broken family. By normal standards, he did not have a chance to succeed in life, yet he is extremely successful. Even though his family line came from America as slaves, he does not see himself as a Africa/American, but as an American. This gives a good background as to the credibility of what he is saying and that it is not siding with the other side.

Once his background is established, he takes a look at what Marxism, Critical Race Theory (CRT), Black Lives Matter organization and racism are and what they are about in America. He describes the history of each and how they are interconnected.

During the year of 2020, there were several major incidents involving a black person being killed by a white policeman. This caused many riots throughout the nation and the uprising of the Black Lives Matter (BLM) organization. Using many articles, Voddie is able to show the ties between BLM and Marxism. He looks at several of the incidents that occurred and breaks down the truth of what actually occurred, versus what the media had said.

In all of this, Voddie shows how the church in America is buying into the false lies of CRT. He is against racism and shows how Christianity is against it also, but denies that it is systemic in America. Voddie is able to clearly present what the church should be saying and doing in this time of racist turmoil in America. He boldly speaks out against several well known Christian leaders and organizations, while not condemning them.

One of the great things I like in this book are the great links to all of the articles and information that he cites throughout the book. Everything that he talks about can be verified in other locations.

I highly recommend every believer to read this book. It will open the eyes of one as to what BLM is really about, the truth of racism in America and what the church should do to move forward.

Independence Versus Dependence

Fourth of July is a time in America in which people celebrate the independence of America. It celebrates when the young nation had broken away from England to become its own country. They did not want to be controlled by or depend upon any other nation in the world. This new country wanted to be self-sufficient, self-sustaining–independent.

Parents push their children for independence. Once a child gets past the initial baby stage, they strive to work with their child to gain independence. The child learns to hold the bottle himself. Later the child is taught how to walk without holding a hand. Learning to eat with a spoon and fork is taught.

Learning to be independent does not end as a person grows up. It continues as an adult. People have to learn how to work a job and manage their money so that they can live on their own. Most do not want to be dependent upon others to supply their needs and desires.

While it is good to be able to work on your own and provide for your own needs, it is not totally correct.

Just working a job for money, means you are dependent upon someone else. You are dependent upon the boss providing the job with a paycheck. You are dependent upon people purchasing the services of  your boss, so that he can provide the job and the paycheck. You are dependent upon the job that the people have that purchase the services that of your boss so that he can provide you a job and a paycheck. And the connection goes on indefinitely.

No one can really survive completely independent of anyone else. The person who lives alone deep in a forest is still dependent upon others to some degree. Most likely he has a gun or a frying pan that he did not make himself. He relied on someone else to make. He was dependent upon that other person.

Most people will not try to live alone in the forest and may say that this illustration does not apply to them. How many people drive a vehicle to work? Each person that does, is dependent upon those who made the vehicle. They are dependent upon those who made and maintain the roads.

The ultimate dependence a person can have is on God. While people can provide some things and can meet some of the needs of a person, only God can provide absolutely everything. He is the One who gives each person the ability to provide something for someone else. He is the One who provides the materials for anyone to make anything.

Think about it, without God there would be no earth or air. Without the earth or air, you could not exist. God provides the very air you breath and the ground you walk on.

God gave you life when you were born. He breathed life into the body you are now using on this earth.

While independence sounds good, it is not a reality. Everyone is dependent upon someone else. No person is truly independent of anyone else, whether they allow God into the picture of their life or not.

Believers know that they are supposed to be dependent upon God for everything. However, many do not live in that dependence. Many try to do things on their own, and only when it gets really ugly do they cry out to God for help and guidance.

How many times do you try to do something on your own, and then after you fail, you pray to God for His help and favor?

It is easy to think that you can do it. That is the way the world has trained you to think. And there is actually an element of truth in saying that you can do it. You can do all things. However, do not forget the reason why you can do all things. It is because God is with you.

In Christ Jesus you can do all things, because it is He who gave you the ability and power to do them. Again, you are dependent upon Jesus, it is not your own doing or power.

Rely on God to give you the strength, wisdom, and power to do what needs to be done. Do this for everything you do. Live this way each day.

Without God you really cannot do anything. As you rely upon Jesus for your forgiveness of sin and your salvation, so also rely on Him to provide you for your daily needs and guidance.

God is there for you and is not kicking you out to have you be independent. He is not raising you up to be independent. He wants you to be dependent upon Him.

As you celebrate, if you live in America, the independence day of America, remember that you, and America, are still dependent upon others. Keep your dependence upon God, the only One who has absolute power in this world.
